Okay I will try not to get too sappy in this post but these girls are the best! (good) girlfriends are reeeeally hard to come by and I am so happy I found such a great group of girls in New York City. We are moving soon and our friend, Mikelle (the beauty in the yellow dress!) moved yesterday (tears!!!) So we had to play dress up and do a best friend shoot before she left. I love that these girls are confident with themselves and build other women up and will drop anything to help someone out. All three of them totally inspire me to be better in different ways, and I love that. They are the best moms and inspire me to be a better mom and they are good wives and good friends and just are the prettiest people inside and out. Really.

This whole social media world is kind of scary. I have seen some of the stuff that goes on in the world’s of little junior high and high school age girls I used to babysit and it makes me sad. It makes me bummed out that there is so much mom shaming, nit picking, and flaw finding on the internet. But really, 99% of what I have seen from my blog has been positive and 99% of you women never fail to leave sweet comments and encouraging remarks and that makes me so happy. I am so glad so many of you are confident with yourselves and don’t feel the need to seek the flaws. If I could go back in time I would definitley take back judgmental comments I have made in college or high school. Friendships are so much better and stronger when you build each other up and are happy for each other’s success instead of finding satisfaction in the other’s shortcomings. I have had both kinds of friendships – especially in high school.. so catty, me included, ugh face palm. (still friends with some of the same girls I was friends with since birth, in Elementary and junior high though! luckily we moved past that haha!) The past couple years I have learned a lot about friendships and am a big believer that you should only keep people in your life who are uplifting. My thoughts are allll over the place in this post and right now but I just love meeting inspiring and confident women. I love these three girls and I have loved getting to interact with a lot of you beautiful women too! xoxoxo

  5. These pics are AMAZING!!!! i love how you all look so princess-y.

  6. i love your hair in this…can you do a hair tutorial…im getting married next year and wearing a babys breath crown and need to know how to get loose curls like yours in this post. i dont like ringlets and i have long hair and want it to be flowing looking without coming apart by ceremony time

  7. I completely agree. Women who build each other up, challenge each other, celebrate together, grieve together, encourage each other in relationships and marriages and motherhood… nothing is better!!

  8. I loved this so much!
I’m from Argentina and I love yor blog, your instagram photos and your YouTube chanel. And I’m in love with your braids!
I’m so sad that you are moving!! I’m going to NY in December and I was hoping to go to your meetings.

  9. Hello! Je te suis depuis déjà pas mal de temps, simplement pour te dire que j’adore tes posts, ta bonne humeur, ils donnent le “SMILE” !! Ne perds jamais ta joie de vivre, elle est trop précieuse… Kiss from France, Loïse.

  10. Oh, I LOVED this post so much Amber! Such pretty pictures, you all look like princesses!! I enjoyed reading it too, you’re so right. Nowadays, it’s so important to build each other up and to surround yourself with truly positive and kind people. Girl power!

  11. AMBER! This post is so beautiful, such lovely pictures and such sweet words! You are my favorite blogger and someone I look up to as a person and blogger myself! Nothing but love for the Barefoot Blonde! I do have a question though, I particularly love your dress and wondered how you got ahold of it because I cannot find these dresses on the Leanne Marshall website at all!

  12. Amber! I love this post! I love that you have these women in your life too for life’s up and downs and sharing laughter and smiles! When you create positive energy it attracts positive energy and that is very apparent in these photos. I love these dresses but can’t find them on the site…..i’m a bit technically challenged and need a little help xoxo

  13. You all look like Queens! I adore this idea…dressing up for a photoshoot with your closest girlfriends.

  14. in love with these gowns! i love the sage green one and yellow one the best! i love the idea of a best friend photoshoot. and i agree, it’s so much easier when we are uplifting towards our friends!! love your positivity. you inspire me to always be positive <3

    oh, she’s lovely

  15. You girls are beyond stunning! Such a gorgeous array of colors with those dresses! Completely agreed that good friends are hard to come by. People are often very insecure and they feel better when they tear someone else down. You just have to keep being YOU and be the person YOU would want to encounter. I think you are always spreading such positive messages – we all love you, Amber!

  16. Girl power all the way!!!! Send positive energy out and it will always come back ?

  17. Literally, this shoot is so beautiful it hurts a tiny little bit. These dresses are stunning and so ethereal – the photographer really captured the beauty of the clothes and the beauty of your friendships! Amen to REAL girlfriends, the kind that encourage and uplift. It’s such a blessing that you’ve found that in NYC. I hope you continue to find great friends as you transition into your next season (wherever you are moving to!) XOXO

  18. You and your besties are absolutely flawless. Love that you’ve found a group of women to surround your with who lift your spirits and inspire you to be better – that is what true friendship and women-for-women thinking is all about. xx

  22. I saw some of these photos on your insta. My oh my! You look like a princess. I feel in a world full of so much hate, it is so important to build each other up. I have loved your little family since you were pregnant. So happy when I see your happiness! God bless you.

  23. you girls rock and look fabulous in your gowns!

your text is really beautiful! stay positive and motivated and try to ignore the negative stuff out there. i admire the way you handle negative or know-it-all comments… stay the way you are!

  24. Lovely dresses. I am a little confused though because I though you guys were endowed?

  25. These may be the most beautiful photos so far! All four of you are beauties. I am happy that your blog has been nothing but positive for you. What you put out, you attract. XOXO!

  31. I couldn’t agree more God made us each unique so let’s celebrate!!

  32. Too adorable! You guys are models!
I am so Happy you have a great group of friends. Finding them is so hard and also so rewarding. It takes courage to let all that bad people behind, even though you know they are not good for you.
I love having this e-bond with you 🙂 (dont know if that makes sense)

  33. These photos are beautiful! It really is hard to make good friends especially when you move somewhere new. Within the past year I moved away from family and friends and have found it is really difficult to meet young women let alone make friends. Do you have any tips for making friends in a new city? I’d love to hear 🙂

  34. Such an amazing words and live your post very much ????

  35. You all are like real life princesses 😉 Beauty inside is FAR greater than outward appearance, I am so glad you have a tribe of women that are encouraging and uplifting!

  36. Wowowowow! Gorgeous dresses! And y’all are even more gorgeous! What a beautiful group. I’m so happy you’ve found some great friends, Amber.

  37. I loved this sweet, positive post! You are so right – life is so much better when we uplift one another instead of tear each other down. <3

  38. True friends are so important! It’s great you found your tribe of girlfriends in NYC. I don’t know what I would do without my besties!

  39. Tell em sister! I love that this blog is always a beautiful, positive and honest place to be. Thanks for putting so much good out there! XO

  40. Wow.. this post is soo great!
Not only because of your wonderful pictures (really beautiful), also because of your text.
    Thank You!! xoxo

  41. One time I came across a forum that literally has thousands and thousands of comments on you and other bloggers. I read a few and then immediately left. It’s so sad that some people seem to exist on the internet only to bring others down. I felt really sorry for them because they are obsessed with picking your pictures and words apart. I can’t imagine the negativity that comes with online success, but I’m so glad that you are able to look past that and focus on the positive.

  42. I saw the pics on your snap and I couldn’t wait to see them here! Even better than what I expected… you’re all soo beautiful and with these dresses you look like goddesses!
I think the color of yours really flatters your hair and your skin tone 🙂 two qestions: why does your hair seem a lot shorter? And is Mikelle’s ginger hair natural?

Loved both the pic and the inspiring words of the post,
    Kisses from Italy, Alis

  43. You have such beautiful friends I am in such awe of you Amber!

I totally agree with this post – I had a couple of friends that were so negative and would just chat about their so called friends to my husband and I and it just made me think what they would say behind our backs. I cut off all contact with them at the beginning of the year and it was one of the best decisions. Now I only surround myself with positive people and it makes such a difference to the way I feel 🙂

You all look so beautiful – I wish you the best of look with your search for a new home xx

  44. What a great post! Such beautiful ladies and your words are so true! Sometimes it is hard to let go of the people who bring so much negativity into your life whether you are hoping they change or because you have been friends so long. But it is amazing when you decide to surround yourself with positivity. It reminds you why life is so beautiful!

  45. Wow, I love this post! Everyone looks gorgeous!! Just curious, Amber what are you wearing on your lips? Im obsessed with the colour!!

  46. Love this post from the heat Amber!! Did you buy these dresses or are they rented? Love love love them!!!

  47. Stunning photos! A great group of friends is so nice to have! Ive been following ur blog for so long now and never commented but I felt the need to do so this time around after seeing so much mom shaming and just plain out jealousy. Keep being the wonderful mommy u are. Ur kids always look so happy so u obviously know what ur doing. Its so nice to know that u stay positive and inspire others to do the same !

  48. This is so sweet and those dresses look amazing on all of you! Where are you moving to!? Good girlfriends are seriously the best and make life worth living- most of my friends I have had for 8+ years but I am always finding new girls I love #girlsgirl. Thank you for always inspiring me!

  49. Amber you are such a beautiful person inside and out. Love everything about this post!!

  50. What a beautiful post! Btw these photos remind me of gossip girl!

  51. These are the most beautiful photos, and I love the meaning behind them! I have a small number of friends, but I would trust them all with my life and there is zero cattiness…only building one another up. What a blessing to have found such a wonderful group of friends to remember your time in NYC by. It makes me so sad to see mean or critical comments on you Instagram because you are such a lovely person and wonderful mama, and probably THE most relatable blogger, but I also see hundreds of positive comments for every one negative. So I just like to remember that most people are good, and that friends can never be appreciated enough!

    Also…. THESE GOWNS. Absolutely stunning!

  52. This is such a good idea. Having just recently gotten out of high school and gotten married, this really reminds me of how much I want to be a mom! Thank you! ??

  53. Beautiful pictures and post! It truly is hard to meet good friends. As you get older you realize what is important in life and want to be surrounded by people with the same beliefs. The friends I have in my life now are so selfless and all have the best hearts. I’m glad you have found the same thing. You feel so kind and sweet Amber I’m sure you attract others like you! Xo

  54. You all look like princesses!! Such a cute photoshoot idea. Amber, you are one of the most positive and easy to relate to people on the internet, I think that’s why you attract people that are uplifting and truly enjoy all of your posts. 🙂

    xx, Hannah

  55. Beautiful thoughts. Celebrating women really is so important. Thank you for sharing!

  56. Love this idea! A girl is never too old to play dress up. 🙂

  57. You and your friends are stunning! There is nothing better than surrounding yourself by people who inspire you and build you up.
I wanted to tell you that your comment on my engagement post on Instagram in June made my whole trip! 🙂 You have been one of my biggest inspirations for starting my blog that I launched a few weeks ago. I was so jealous when my mom (Melissa) got to meet you! It’s if you ever have the chance to check it out. Thanks for being so real and such a constant inspiration! Xo

  58. Amber this pictures are so pretty, the dresses look magical and stunning, you and your friends really nail it.

  59. Amber, I’m a huge fan of you, I have been folowing you for a while and I have a big admiration, Im sure you are going to go very far!! the way you live made me see that you can do it all and still stay beautiful inside and out at all times(no joke)
When I grow up I want to be like you;)
Btw you and your friends look gorgeous in these dresses!

  60. Finding amazing women to surround yourself is so important. It makes me so happy when I see other women lifting each other up and building one another to the best possible version of ourselves. This post makes me smile from ear to ear!!

  61. Loved this!!! You all have hair goals too! It’s great to see your positivity and that women and specifically moms can support each other as well as look and feel beautiful and be successful!

  62. Your friendship with one another is inspiring! Also, on a side note, love that you each have a different hair color! You look like gorgeous Disney princess in real life! Lol!

  63. Amber that color looks so pretty on you! And your friends are so pretty. That’s so cool you guys were all able to meet. And I can’t wait to find out where you’re moving…eek!

  64. So true, as we get older you realize the people you want to keep around in your life and that really good friends are hard to come by. Social media has its pluses and minuses, but stay true to yourself, those who you know are your friends, and those adorable kiddos of yours. Gorgeous photos. Beautifully Candid

  65. Aw this post is so cute! You and your friends all look stunning and what you wrote on high school friendships is so true.

  66. I love your blog! You are inspiring to so many people! (me included) All of your friends are so beautiful! It is so hard to find uplifting girlfriends to have in your life!

  67. This shoot is so friggin’ cute. You look like a Sex & The City movie but with Moms and +1 more person lmao. You’re always beautiful, Amber, but that dark haired girl is an absolute beauty. Tell her for me!

Good girlfriends are hard to find. My personality is very masculine, I grew up a tomboy and I’m very mellow most of the time so I usually find that high energy girlfriends are hard for me to have because we just clash so much lmao. I need some chill girls.

  68. Really started to tear up when I read the part about y’all moving. STOP REMINDING ME! I was really stoked about possibly meeting you during my trip to NYC next year, darn. At least wherever you’re moving, your family is healthy and happy. So sweet you met such an amazing group of women in the Big Apple. Y’all look beautiful!

  69. These pics are so lovely and I’m sure just like me it reminds other mom readers of being with their besties at their wedding. Couldn’t agree more that friendships about building each other up are worth their weight in gold!

  70. Wow! You all look so stunning! Just like princesses! So beautiful! Sophie x

  71. You all are so stunning I can barely stand it! True beauty really comes from the inside, a good heart makes a woman soooo much more gorgeous on the outside.

Good girlfriends really are so hard to find, but once you find the true ones, nothing (time or space) can separate that bond!

  72. You girls are absolutely beautiful!! Love those dresses.. It’s so sad when friends start moving away, but I am sure you willall keep in touch <3

  73. Absolutely stunning photos of you all!! You’re absolutely right, organic friendships are so difficult to find. Especially as you grow and take on new roles in life, it’s difficult to find others that can appreciate and support your journey. I’m so happy you’ve found women like this!! And endless good lucks to your friend as she moves, I wish her so well!!

    With Love,

  74. Where are you moving to? This is such a sweet post and all of your are beautiful.

  75. This was such a cute post!! Good girlfriends are seriously one of the best things in life! (next to doing fun photoshoots like this with them of course;)) You just always seem so happy when you’re writing these and it makes your readers happy as well! Just curious where this is location is on the upper west side? It’s such a cute place for photos with friends!:)

  76. Oh my gosh, this is such a sweet idea! I love this!
Also…is David ever going to do a video/post about how he takes/edits your blog photos? I would LOVE to learn a little more behind the scenes!
    -Kate //

  77. Such a positive message and these photos are stunning! Such a fun way to spend the afternoon with girlfriends and go a little glam!
