How To Style & Curl Short Hair

Since cutting my hair short I have received several questions about how I style it and what products I use daily. Cutting my hair was a huge change for me but I have absolutely loved it! It had been so fun to learn how to style and curl it and today, I am going to share step by step how to do just that.

Before curling my hair, I start by blow drying it straight with a round brush and applying a small amount of rose oil to help smooth things out. I have very thick/ wavy hair and this helps tame with the frizz and natural craziness of my hair.

I begin by curling my hair with a 1.25 curling iron. This size is great for short lengths to allow the best curls possible. Taking one strand of hair I curl it outwards, leaving the ends of my hair out. I then take the next piece of my hair and curl it inwards, leaving the ends out as well. It is key to go back and forth with the direction you curl to achieve that tousled curl look.

After finishing all of the curls, I take my favorite texture spray by Drybar (smells amazing) and spray underneath my hair in layers.

I then use a teasing comb to lightly tease the ends to give it a little more body.

I finish off the look with Moroccanoil luminous medium hold hairspray and voilá .

This look is super easy and chic! I hope you enjoy this post. If you have any questions about how I style this look, please let me know in the comments below.

Introducing the BFB Two Piece in Belgium

I know I have explained it before but I wanted to just do it once more in case you missed it! Our BFB Two Piece is a set of two pieces/wefts for lengths as long as a lob and as short as a bob! They are seamless wefts that lay SO flat to your head, are so comfortable, and feel practically weightless. They add the perfect amount of thickness to your natural length and instantly you have volume that lasts all day.

  1. You look wonderful, Tayler! I cut my long hair 3months ago and liked it as well!
I curl it sometimes, sometimes straighten it, but don’t use any sprays… Do you wash your hair the next day or it just still looks fine? Doesn’t using sprays and wax make hair dirty by the evening?

    With kind regards, Giulia.

    1. Aw thank you so much Giulia! This style lasts me for about two days and the third day I wash it. I have not had an issue with it being too dirty. If I use too much of the texture spray it can become hard to style the second day but I would recommend just using a small amount all over your hair to prevent that from happening 🙂
