Barefoot BlondeFor today’s post I am talking about products I have absolutely been loving and some that I have tried and did not like! I always prefer to watch a video when it comes to hair and beauty especially product reviews – I could sit all day long and watch tutorials and product reviews so I am going to try and include more videos for those who prefer to watch them like I do! And make sure you subscribe to my YouTube channel (here) to see all my videos as soon as I upload them!

I usually have better quality videos but my camera has not been working so I had to use my computer but hopefully my camera gets fixed in the next little bit 🙂

1. BECCA ‘The One Perfecting Brush’ – I LOVE THIS BRUSH so stinkin much, its amazing for contouring and blending! It took some getting used to but now that I am used to it I never want to use anything else! PS I am currently using this bronzer to contour and I love it!!

2. YSL Baby Doll Mascara – I did not like this which I was super bummed about.. I had been wanting to try it and really wanted to love it because the packaging is amazing and I heard so many good things about it. It goes on really thick and nice but it transfers onto my eye lids just after a couple hours. If I have it on my lower lashes it also transfers onto my lower lid so unfortunately I will not be buying this again.

3. CoverGirl Lash Blast Mascara – I have used this for about 3 years and I cant find anything I like better thus far! It never flakes and doesn’t ever transfer onto my lids!

4. Sephora Pro Flawless Bronzer Brush – I use this for foundation but it is by far, hands down, thee best foundation brush you will ever use, ever! I promise! Please go get it and you will forever thank me, like all of my friends have 🙂

5. Stila Foil Eyeshadow – Holy cow I love this stuff so much! It literally looks like foil flakes on your eye lid.. it is sticky though and with a primer it holds amazing. It is really great for smoky looks or a gold liner!

6. Ardell Demi Wispies – These are the best false lashes ever! At first I thought they looked a little too long but when they are actually on they look natural and if you want to make them a bit more bold you can add mascara to the ends. They are so so pretty and just look like you have amazing lashes.

7. Smashbox Hydrating Primer – I always love to have a hydrating layer underneath my make up, #1 for my skins health but also because I feel like it helps my foundation go on smooth and lay on top nice instead of sinking into my pores. This primer is the perfect amount of hydrating and doesn’t make my face oily or anything like that!

8. MAC Mineralize Concealer – I LIKE this but I don’t love it. I am going to finish it but I am excited for it to be done. Previous to this I used Marc Jacobs Concealer (in the color Stand Corrected) and nothing really beats it. I tried to find something a tad cheaper but after trying others I think the Marc Jacobs concealer is worth the splurge, nothing compares.

9. MAC ‘Soft and Gentle’ Highlighter – I lovvvve this highlighter because it is super subtle and can be used as an every day highlighter to brighten your face. For nights I usually add more and add some under my contour as well to make it a bit more dramatic.

That is all the reviews I have for now but I am hoping to do these every month or so and just review the latest products I have purchased and loved or hated so let me know if this is something you guys would want to keep seeing or if you have any products you would like reviewed!!

And don’t forget to watch the video here if you’re into that kinda thing 🙂

  1. I know this is a super old post and random but I saw that you have some becca products. Do you know where to find the becca & jacklyn face palette?

  2. I love this review! I had just recently went on a much needed makeup haul, and I had probably half of these products! I wasn’t sure I would like them, but now that I read this, I know what to rebuy/re-review for myself!
    SOOO helpful. Thanks a bunch.

  3. Hi amber! Have you tried prolong wear concealer from MAC? It’s the jam. 15 hour wear and super liquidy texture too, which is great to smooth around our delicate eyes. Also sweet and sour is now perm 🙂 thought you’d be pleased to hear!

  4. Love your blog!! What do you use as a powder/foundation? Having a hard time finding something that covers but doesn’t look too cakey… Yet one that works well for combination skin. Having a hard time finding that balance! Thank you!!

  5. Amber – can you please, please give us a tutorial from start to finish on how you apply your makeup. Your makeup always looks flawless. I’ve watched several videos on youtube on makeup tutorials and contouring but I think yours looks absolutely amazing and would love to see how you do it. Please, please!!

  6. Hey Amber, did you have a link for the bronzer you are currently using to contour with? The chocolate something…, or did I miss that link?

  7. I love it! I use the same mascara and too haven’t found anything I like better. MAC, Kat Von D, Sephora, Too Faced and Smashbox are all great products!! Thank you for sharing!

  8. Love this post and the video! I am definitely looking forward to more posts like this 🙂 Can’t wait to try the Sephora Bronzer brush for foundation. It is sold out online in Canada at the moment but hopefully I can get a hold of it soon! How do you think the MAC highlighter would be on fair skin?

    1. Thanks Erica!! And yeah definitely snag that brush when it comes back in stock it will change your life 🙂 and I think it would be beautiful on fair skin! You could always go into the MAC store and have them try it out on you first and see how you like it! xx

  9. Loved this post! I was so excited to hear about the Sephora brush because my foundation brush leaves weird lines around my face and takes forever to disperse! I tried to find that #46 one on Sephora’s website but they are all out now 🙁 but if you have any other recommendations please let me know! I desperately need to upgrade my beauty routine so this was perfect timing!

Also if you need a good mask that is inexpensive and good for rehydrating your skin try using the Ponds Cold Cream and just leave it on for a while or use a hot face towel to steam it in before wiping it off! It’s really been working for me lately and I read that a lot of makeup pros swear by it because it removes makeup as well. Love your blog and excited to hear about your recent baby news! Congrats Amber

  10. Love these suggestions! I’ve been meaning to try out a few Mac products because I just keep hearing how consistently reliable they are — love your quickie reviews 🙂

  11. I am so happy you posted this! Every time I watch your videos I just Love you more and I haven’t even met you!

    1. Ahhh that made me so happy because I always feel so awkward doing videos, I feel so silly doing them so I am glad you like them 🙂 Thanks girlie!

  12. Loved your video! What facial cleansing masks do you use when pregnant? I’ve wanted to try the glamglow super-mud clearing treatment mask but do you know if it’s safe to use when pregnant?

    1. Thanks!! Well right now my skin is freaking out! Pregnancy has not been good for my skin at all.. I also have dry patches, have you heard of ‘pregnancy mask’? Anyways, I have that so I have been using Cetephil since it is so mild, but I need to try something else because its not clearing my skin up! Maybe I will try that super mud treatment! I am not sure if it is safe for pregnancy but I will look into it and try it if it is and let you know!

  13. For some reason, NO ONE can find a better mascara than Covergirl. Weird.

  14. I love the video! I am going to need to make a trip to Sephora to pick up some of these products! I love Double Wear foundation thanks to you!

    1. Isn’t it the best foundation ever?! I am really glad to hear you like it!! xx

  15. I love these kind of video’s and posts! I discovered your blog via your hair tutorials from the past in the first place (most of them I tried on lazy sunday afternoons) I’m always looking for new beauty tools and tricks, it can make a look or give just the much needed finishing touch. So again: I loooove this post :). Can’t wait for the chunky braid tutorial too, it’s been all over pinterest these past few days, so I’m anxious to find out ‘how to’. 🙂

    xo, Kirsten

    1. Aw thank you so much Kristen!!! Glad you like it!! I will be posting that on Friday! So stay tuned! xx

  16. I love this ! so happy you are including some reviews on your blog. Ive been reading your blog for over a year and I’ve missed your videos and reviews. one thing i would love to hear about is you morning and nightly skincare routines. Love your blog thanks !

    1. Catie! Thanks so much! I am definitely changing my blog to more hair and beauty and less fashion from now on, I think I realized its what I am better at haha 🙂 but that is a good idea I wrote that down for next time I film I will do some videos on my morning and nightly routine! xx

  17. Love this post! Also wondring exactly what kind of foundation you use with the bronzes brush:) thanks so much!

    1. Thanks!! I use Estee Lauder Double Wear foundation and it is my FAVORITE!!!!

    1. Thanks Adri!! I am glad you like them and I will definitely keep doing them 🙂

  18. I would try the Nars radiant creamy concealer. It’s a little less expensive then the Marc Jacobs but does an amazing job for both under eye and blemishes!

P.s. I really enjoy reading your blog!

  19. Loved this! Your makeup is always flawless, so I love hearing about what you use! I was wondering what you’ve been using for eyeliner and eyeshadows lately…I especially loved your eye makeup in the watermelon beanie shoot!!! I’m looking forward to more posts like this one 🙂

    1. Aw thank you!!! I will definitely start sharing more of my make up and I have had a lot of people ask me what my make up was for the watermelon beanie post so I will probably just make a post out of that! xoxo

  20. Love these beauty posts from you – you always look flawless! I will definitely be picking up the Sephora foundation brush 🙂

  21. I love this post! Keep them coming! I take recommendations by bloggers and youtube stars very seriously. 🙂 I also love watching Casey on youtube like you mentioned in your video!

  22. This is VERY helpful! I’ve been looking for a highlighter for a while now and might give this a try. I’ve been grappling with sensitive skin problems and rosacea as of recently because I’ve been doing a lot of international traveling (change of climate and airplanes hate me). So I go for things a bit more subtle. Question for you: do you think you can do a review of your favorite lipsticks by brand? I’m partial to high-end make up, but heard horror stories about Chanel lipsticks…

    1. If you have rosacea I would definitely recommend Estee Lauder Double Wear foundation! I don’t necessarily have rosacea but I have red undertones that I like to cover up and Casey (youtube guru) has rosacea and uses it as well and says it works wonders for her! Anyways that is a fabbbulous idea for a lipstick tutorial by brand, definitely will do that one!
