As you have probably seen, I had my hair (temporarily) dyed pink! I LOVVVE how it turned out. It is so fun to have a change for a bit. I literally felt like a different person with pink hair ha! Pink hair Amber is way more fun;) I was so nervous to do it but was shocked by how much I actually loved it and I kept not washing my hair so it wouldn’t fade. I had sooo many questions about it so today is all about the pink! I had it done at Muze Salon and they used Wella’s new Instamatic Color Line – it is a demi permanent color so it lasts about 3-4 weeks. I love Wella color and product – when I was in hair school that is the color I learned and also the color I used on all my clients after. It has the prettiest shades and always comes out looking amazing. If you are planning to go pink (Had lots of you say you wanted to try!) then I for sure recommend finding a solon that has Wella’s new Instamatic line!

Below are some pics we took before my pink faded! They were taken while David was out of town fishing in Alaska and I took Atticus to Sheep Meadow to eat watermelon (his fav) and play. It was soo much fun. Sheep Meadow is amazing.

Huge thanks to Wella for sponsoring this post!

  1. This reassured me so much! My stylist reccomended instamatic as i’m naturally blonde and had never dyed my hair before.
I googled and this post came up. Had it done today and i love it! Ended up with every colour except the green shade!

  2. It looks great!!! Love it… Today I will go to let my hair dye in pink like you did! I’m very excited… 🙂
    Hope it will look nice.

    1. Thanks so much!! 🙂 I just saw this comment but did you end up trying it out?! I bet it looked so pretty!

  3. I love the pink! Sadly, I have brown hair so trying to do something fun like this NEVER works! I’ll just have to live vicariously through you :p! Atticus is so cute with the watermelon! Great photos! Too bad you didn’t get to go up to Alaska with David!

  4. I love this look and really want to try it–what did you say to the colorist to get the half dyed look?? I definitely want the partially dyed at the bottom part of the hair, just not sure what it’s called!!

    Thanks 🙂

    1. Thanks so much Kate!! And I am so sorry I am just seeing this comment so this probably isn’t relevant anymore! Did you end up dying it?! xo

  5. I love this… I’m getting purple in the ends of my verrry dark brown hair next week, and I cannot wait!

    1. Thanks so much!! How did the purple turn out?! I bet it looked so cute!! xo

  6. Gorgeous color! And it went so well with your hair and skin, looks great, as always! Do you still wear extensions, and if so, did you have them dye the extensions separately? Regardless, it’s absolutely beautiful! You have a gorgeous family by the way, can’t wait to see your little girl, it will be a perfect addition to an already blessed family!

    1. Aww thank you so much!! And yes, I still wear extensions!! I only dyed my real hair though 🙂 Thanks for the sweet comment!! (sorry I am just seeing this!) xo

    1. Thank you so much Lauren!! That is so very sweet of you!! Have a lovely 4th yourself!! xo

    1. You should totally do it!! It’s such a fun change 🙂 Thanks for reading!! xo

  7. I love your posts and pink hair, you pull it off better than Kelly Rippa!! Can I ask what kind of camera you use?

  8. Love the pink! And how is it that you don’t look pregnant at all in these photos! Totally jealous 🙂

I have very dark, long, think hair. So my braids never look like yours! Another thing I’m jealous about! But I think you have a sister with dark hair? Do you (or she) every do anything different for styles?

    1. Thanks so much Veronica!! That is so nice of you!! Braids show up better on blondes usually but they still look so pretty on brunettes!! Yes, my sister is brunette! She doesn’t braid her hair very much but when we do, I use a texture spray to really add more depth to her braids!! xo

  9. Pink hair looks so lovely on you! My hair is super black (has never been dyed) but I so want to try a fun color like that, I’m leaning towards purple but I won’t do it until it grows longer, it was super damaged and I cut almost 15″ off three months ago. Now I just sigh looking at pictures of long hair but oh well. You and your boy look so beautiful! I love your style, definitely an inspiration!! <3

    1. Thank you so much Paula!! I am so glad you like it 🙂 I think purple would be SO fun!! I bet because you cut it off it will grow in so healthy!! Patience is key with growing out your hair, it is so hard I know!! Thanks again for your sweet comment!! xo

  10. Now that you are a New Yorker, I am wondering if you are attending Diner en Blanc this year?!

    1. Aww thank you love!! And I had Ashley Brooke photography take these 🙂

    1. No way?! Totally try it out!! It is so nice knowing it is not permanent either 🙂 Thanks for reading beautiful!! xo

  11. This was a very brave choice but why not! You are young and beautiful and it will probably wash out soon again! I know with long hair you want some change in between but not cut it all off- right? You look lovely as always- heck you would look lovely with green hair! 😉 Kisses my gorgeous girl!

    1. You are so right!! It is such a great way to “change” up one’s hair without having to chop it off!! I don’t think I could ever cut my hair haha! Thanks so much for your sweet compliment!! xo

    1. Aren’t they the best?! And I know!! I was lucky enough to walk away without any major stains haha 🙂 xo

  19. hi amber!! your hair looks so great!! ok so I have a few question for you. ive commented before idk if you remember but I was the one who got the lob and has mousey brown hair but a little darker. so I want to change it up before I go back to school (I always get my hair done right before school starts.) im honestly open for anything new!! just wanted to get your advice. oh btw my hair is more frizzy and curly but I straighten it most days!!

    1. Thanks so much Sara!! That is so nice of you 🙂 And yes!! I remember exactly 🙂 Has your hair grown a lot since then?! And do you color your hair?! I would suggest keeping the cut if you like it, and trying a fun new hair color!! Let me know what you think!! xo

      1. aww you’re so sweet!! love that you remember your followers!! my hair is about shoulder length rn. ive never colored my hair before so im somewhat nervous, I want it to be cute but not too drastic. love the picture!!

        1. It can be scary to color your hair for the first time for sure!! And it sounds like you have a gorgeous natural color, so if that makes you too nervous then don’t!! Maybe just freshen your hair up with a layered hair cut or bangs or something fun!! 🙂

    1. Thanks Carly!! And that’s what I thought!!! And then afterwards it was like no big deal haha!

  20. Your boy is just ADORABLE!!! I can’t even handle it. Thanks for the videos on Instagram, my kids LOVE your baby! He has helped me prevent a few meltdowns. 🙂

    1. You are so sweet!! Thank you Catherine!! And omg that makes me so happy, that is adorable!! I bet your kids are cuties!! xo

  21. What camera do you use to take these beautiful pictures? 🙂 they are stunning

    1. I am so glad you like the pictures!! I linked the photographer above in the text 🙂 She’s amazing! xo

    1. I’d like to know the answers to these questions too. Love the pink hair!

  22. The pink in your hair turned out so pretty! I think different colored hair can be so gorgeous, it makes me wish I had lighter hair so I could do a temporary color like pink! I have auburn hair so I don’t think it would show up at all. And oh my gosh those photos of you and Atticus are so adorable. He seems like such a happy little guy!

    1. Thank you Kendra!! You are so nice!! And yes, I agree, it is so fun to try a different color!! I have seen brunettes do blues and purples!! But yeah, pink works best on blondes unfortunately 🙁

    1. Thanks so much!! You are way too sweet!! And yeah right! You TOTALLY could!!! 😉

  23. Random comment, but what is your favorite sunless tanner? I’m in desperate need of a good one and I know you’ve mentioned it before, but can’t find where. ☺️

    1. That is such a nice compliment, thank you so much!! You are so sweet! Thanks for reading!! xo

  24. I love your blog! I just wanted to let you know that your son is the cutest little boy ever and you clearly are a good Mom because look at how much he smiles!

    1. Thank you so much Tara!! You totally made my day!! Thanks for your nice comment!! xo

  25. Hi Amber! I love your blog, your style and your HAIR!! I’ve been following your blog for a while now but I think this is the first time I comment 🙂

    1. Hi Elena!! Thanks so much for your comment!! I appreciate it so much!! Thank you so much for following along!! xo

  26. That is such a nice colour! It makes me want to get my hair temporary dyed, but I have dark hair so I don’t know which colour would look best 😀

    1. Thanks so much Andy!! Blues and purples look so pretty on brunettes too!! Pink works if it’s more of a hot pink 🙂

    1. It shows up best on blondes but I have seen brunettes use blues and purples!! Super cute 🙂

    1. Haha you are so right!!! Luckily no big stains haha 🙂 Thanks for reading Adri!! xo

  27. I love the pink hair! Would the color show up well on dark brown hair or would another color look better? Also, your hair always looks really great! I have really thick hair and I try to wear it natural but I find that it is poofy unless I tame it with some heat, but I want to use less heat so it will grow more. Do you know of any products that may work?

    1. Thanks Courtney!! It is so fun!! I love how just doing the ends makes a huge difference! I could never do my whole head haha! 🙂

  28. So fun! I just had my stylist do some really great reds in my hair for summer and I am in love. She mixed some beautiful warm red tones with some highlights and some bright, true-red pieces and it looks so nice with my fair complexion. I keep teasing her that one of these days I’m going to go dramatic and try and all-over pink or silver and she just shakes her head at me but with temporary color I could give it a try!!
I just have to say…toddler+watermelon+grass+white jeans = you are one brave lady!! haha! Get out the stain stick! I love that you are so carefree with him and let him get messy and sticky, that’s what being a little boy is all about. Precious.

    1. No way?! I bet it looks fabulous!! Red is such a gorgeous color!! You should definitely try a temporary color sometime, it is so fun! 😉 I get messy no matter what I wear so white jeans it was haha! He is all boy, I love it 🙂

  29. Love the pink hair! Never thought I would do that, but you make it looks so fun and cute! May have to give it a try this summer! 🙂

    1. Thanks Lauren!! I was so nervous at first but I was so happy with how it came out! It is definitely a big change 🙂 xo

  30. This color is amazing! Also I love how you always take the time to reply to every comment, it’s really so sweet!

    1. Thanks so much Monica!! I am glad you like the color!! And aww you are the sweetest!! I do my best 🙂 Love ya!! xoxo
