Hope everyone is having a good week! We’re in Utah and all of David’s family is town. I feel like I have finally recovered from our red eye here… Atticus cried for probably 3 of the 5 hours, it was horrible. We have gotten really spoiled with him never crying and being so good on all of our flights but he was just having an off night and it was so so rough. I started just crying on the plane because I didn’t know what to do, nothing we did helped him and he was just so sad! People were coming up to us after saying “Its a good thing he is cute….” and I felt so bad 🙁 it is so stressful knowing everyone on the plane is trying to sleep and your baby is crying. A crying baby is stressful enough!

But I am sooo excited for the Fourth! David’s family always has a big slip n’ slide in his parents back yard so it’s going to be so fun to see Atticus go down it:) It’s SO hot but at least it’s dry. Fourth of July also reminds me of last year when Atticus got sick because it was the night of the Fourth that I started realizing something was off. He was in his little Fourth of July onesie when we took him to the hospital. If you remember my New Years post I shared the story with you of when that all happened :/ It was almost exactly a year ago today and it was such a sad time. At the hospital every night volunteers came and made dinner for the parents and families of patients and we thought it was the coolest/sweetest thing so tonight we are hosting the dinner and making everyone food. We are super excited!

I fell in love with this dress a while ago and snagged it on sale online – it is the perfect flowy dress for summer and I love that the waste band still works with a pregnant belly. I don’t like to wear “nice” things with Atticus for too long since I like to be able to pick him up if he is muddy or has food all over him so I usually will wear my nicer dresses for lunch dates/dinner dates or when we are doing something special. I had a lunch date that day I wore this and we went to run some errands beforehand but luckily Atticus stayed clean 🙂

Hope you all have a fun and safe 4th of July!

Xo

  8. These photos are beautiful! I have always dreamed of living in NYC. My hubby and I visit as often as we can. It is such a magical place. Your dress is gorgeous and your son is adorable. My hubby and I have been trying for kids for about a year now and as much as everyone tells me I would be great with a little girl, my heart tells me differently and I really want a boy. (But of course, I would love either) 😉

  17. I love that dress! It looks so cute with you beautiful little bump. I totally understand how it feels to have a crying baby on a plane. My little 9 month old boy had an epic melt down on a recent flight from Chicago. I felt like the whole plane hated me! Love that my son is so loud and chatty and happy but when he is upset it’s just crazy! Hopefully Atticus’ next flight is much better.

    1. Aww thank you Sarah!! That is so nice of you!! And no way?! It is the worst feeling huh?? I am glad you can relate!! We are just glad to have that flight behind us haha! xo

  18. Love the dress!!

  19. Your hair is so pretty like that! Sorry about little A. It sucks not knowing what to do when a baby is crying plus it’s just so heartbreaking!Luckily Atticus is quite most of the time! Have a great time in Utah. I love the celebrations of the 4th of July but we don’t have that in Greece 🙁

    1. Thank you Monica!! I am so glad you like the hairstyle 🙂 We had a great weekend in Utah, it was a blast! And I know!! It was so frustrating not knowing how to calm him 🙁 Have a lovely day!! xo

    1. Thanks so much!! I also love the way the dress falls, one of my favorite parts of it!! 🙂

  20. Hi amber! Where did you get your layered necklace in this post? Thanks and happy fourth!
    Priscilla

  21. Hi! Is that braided updo featured in one of your youtube videos? I’ve tried looking through them but couldn’t find it right away. If not could you make one showing how to do it? I’m in LOVE!

    Thanks!

  22. So sorry to hear Atticus had such a rough flight! Trying to comfort a crying baby can be so disheartening sometimes. As for the dress-you look like a NYC boho goddess! I love it girl!!!

    1. I know 🙁 It was such a hard flight!! I am glad it is behind us now haha 🙂 And wow thank you!! You are too kind!! xoxo

  23. Such a gorgeous look and I love how it billows in the wind! Sounds like a rough flight and some rough memories, but I love that you are contributing to the feeding the hospital families. That’s wonderful!

  24. Hi Amber, Love this dress and esp. in the peachy colour so pretty on you ! Beautiful boho yet refined elegant and chic ! Trust you to have your eye on whats current and find the perfect romantic summer dress… this one by Zimmerman is perfect ! And the brand is so hot right now since the duchess chose an eyelet one for her Australia visit. A little while back I’d commented that I’d love to find a pretty lacy white dress for summer and wondered if you might show some on your blog. Thank-you so much, this comes on an ivory white too . The caftan is a great vacation / hostess piece too.
Hope you all have a Happy Healthy 4th of July ! So kind of you to be giving back with the dinners on this holiday.

    1. I know it!!! I hate how you feel hopeless because you can’t help them 🙁 And yes! We had an amazing 4th this year!! I hope your weekend was amazing!! xoxo

    1. Aww wow you totally made my day!! Thanks for being so sweet!! xoxo

  26. What a wonderful idea – cooking dinner for families at the hospital. The things you’d never even think about until someone does it for you! 🙂 I’m sure you will bring a smile to many. Happy Fourth!

Oh, and beautiful dress! I hope pregnancy looks as good on me someday! <3

    1. Thanks so much love!! You are so sweet!! And I totally agree! It is something we would have never thought of if we hadn’t experienced it ourselves 🙂 I hope your weekend was fabulous!! xoxo

  27. Aww! Hopefully the 4th will become a happy memory for you guys again 🙂 I don’t mind when babies cry on planes because it’s just so uncontrollable, they really cant help it. I wish I could cry on planes sometimes too, flying more than 2 hours makes me crazy, but I’m supposed to be an adult so I cant cry and I’m jealous of those babies who just get to let it all out. I wouldn’t even worry about it though seriously. I’m convinced that they should start making planes with little rooms or a blocked off row or something for situations like that. Hey, I should pitch that to Delta 😉 haha

Enjoy your time in Utah! You have to share that slip-n-slide! x. Morgan / http://www.morningappleblog.com

    1. We had a great 4th of July this year so from here on out it will good memories 🙂 And that is so nice that you don’t care!! Unfortunately some people do!! But for the most part people are very nice and don’t say anything haha 😉 But flying in general is just rough!! Even for us adults ha! Thanks for your comment Morgan!! Love ya!! xoxo

    1. Thank so much Courtney!! It was rough but I am glad it is behind us 🙂 Thank you for reading!! xo
