Barefoot Blonde One Minute Knotted Half Up

I have teamed up with Lauren Conrad Blog again to share another hairstyle how to! This one is great because it seriously takes 1 minute to do. Then you can add curls if you want or leave it straight/wavy! I love easy quick hairstyles I can do when my front pieces arent curled or done – getting the front pieces out of the way always makes hair look more put together.

My hair went wild during pregnancy and also after – I feel like I have bald spots in front now when I pull my hair straight back and the hair is starting to grow in so its like short little hairs growing back in. I honestly didn’t even realize I had those bald spots until I pulled my hair in a bun to get in the bath with Atticus the other day! Anyways, I am trying to take extra good care of my hair and got some new products that hopefully help. I am going to keep using them for a bit and I will let you know which I end up liking best. BUT until then hairstyles like this one are going to be on repeat. Here are the steps:

  1. Tease the base and smooth it out (if you want to have extra volume)
  2. Take two sections from the front of your hair – the bigger the section the bigger the knot in back will be and the more bobby pins you will need.
  3. Pull the two sections to the back of your head and tie a knot. Hold the knot in place and pin it til it is secure.

Hope you all have a good day!

  3. I absolutely love you and your blog! I am an avid clip in extension user and I’m always looking for brands with highlighted blondes that blend nicely. Any suggestions?

  4. I can not believe how beautiful your hair are. In addition, the way you tie your hair … so simple and at the same time giving the effect.

  6. I love this hairstyle but had trouble with getting the knot to stay in place. Do you have any recommendations on how to pin so it looks like your last picture? Thank you so much!!

  7. I’d love to know what products help! I too have post pregnancy hair and it’s making me crazy! Short hairs coming out everywhere! I feel like I’m at a loss until they grow out. Love this simple do! I’ll definitely try it out!

  10. My other sister showed this to me and i LOVED it!! So…for a party that is going to be happening soon, i will try this!! I also loved your “Half-up Halo Braid+Soft Curls!” I was wondering where you got all your ideas? I’m more of a person to put my hair in a ponytail, and call it good. I want to try new things and came across this! Thanks!

    1. Aww yay!! I am so glad to hear that 🙂 And I get a lot of inspiration from Pinterest. Thanks so much for the comment!!! xo

  11. Beautiful! What do you use to curl your hair most often? If I were to buy one tool to do the waves/curls what would you recommend?

  12. Easiest style – so in love! I lost a bunch of hair in the front too. Still not back 1 year later! Just one of the fun side effects of pregnancy 😉

  13. Super cute hairstyle. My hair is falling out like crazy since I recently had a baby. I feel like my hair is thinning on the top. So is it best to avoid pulling it back or putting it up? I look forward towards hearing about the products you like best …. I’m nervous my hair will just keep falling out :/

    1. Thanks so much Jodie!! And I recently bought some products to try out but I want to make sure they work before recommending them 🙂 So if I see a difference and love them, I will post about them! xo

  14. Your hair is so pretty! Love this hairstyle 🙂

    1. Thanks so much love!! You are so sweet!! And I know what you mean, some days my hair will not do anything so I resort to a braid haha!

  19. K sooo cute!!! Did your hair grow during pregnancy at all and then fall out after? I hear that’s super common!! I feel like my hair is just normal during pregnancy so I HOPE it stays normal after, too. But anyways LOVE this simple little knotted half updo! And your curls!! Love it all 🙂

  22. Hi Amber!
Love your blog! Could u do a post on how you suggest starting a blog and the equipment you use? Thanks so much!

    1. Thanks so much!! And that is a great idea for a post!! I appreciate that!! xo

  23. Love the new hair tutorials you have been doing! They are great for me to do when I am in a rush in the morning. Really simple, easy to follow, and really cute! ????????????

  24. Love your blog!!!! Your an inspiration everyday!! ❤️❤️

  25. Amber how do you normally style your hair with post partum hair loss and incoming baby hairs? My kids are the same ages as yours and I’m having the same issue (again) with hair loss, and then new baby hairs will grow in and be all wonky around my hairline. I don’t even know how to part my hair now to try to hide it! Any tips would be greatly appreciated. (And my hair is the same length and texture as yours, and I do lots of braids too but I can’t seem to cover it up like you can.)

    1. Depending on where the hair loss is, I just try and style around it and pin pieces back where I need to. I don’t typically leave it all down, I either braid it back or pull it half back like this 🙂 And around the hairline is hard!! I do my best to tuck those baby pieces in and use hairspray. I rely on my hair extensions too!!

  26. I also love hair styles that are quick and easy. This one is so cute, and a great go-to! I’ve been trying to thicken my braids by pulling them apart like you do-but I’m feeling like my hair is slightly on the short side so it looks kind of mess (which sometimes looks cute I guess). What is your fav product to spray in your hair before you do a braid that you want to last you all day? Also, what’s that bright pink polish you always wear on vacation? I’m obsessed with it. xoxo

    1. I am so happy you liked it!! Thanks so much! And oh good!! I am glad you are trying them out! I bet it looks cute messy like that 🙂 And I love to use some sort of texturizing spray before (Oribe has a good one) and Moroccan Oil hairspray afterwards (it is so light and holds great). And I always get my nails done at the salon and just grab a color, so I don’t know what it is 🙁 But I love Essie and OPI brands!! xo

    1. Thank you!! I love how easy it is because then everyone can try it 🙂 xo

  27. I love this!! Definitely trying it asap. Thanks for the constant hair inspiration!! xoxo

  28. Omg just love what you do..its very beautiful.. I have a ? who does this gorgeous hair pictures? Thank you Amber:)

  29. Well from all of your pictures you cannot tell that you have lost hair or that it is thinning, it still looks fabulous! I actually noticed my hair thinning about 3 months into my new vegan diet. I started Biotin supplements and have seen a great improvement in the past few weeks of taking them!

    1. You are too kind!! Thanks Lauren 🙂 I feel like I am pretty good at covering it up so that is good for now!! And oh good! I am so glad that is working for you! I may need to try that!

  30. Love it! Going to try this today!
