Today’s post is a bit of a life catch up! We went to Arizona and Utah with the intent of looking for lots to build on in each place and to spend some time praying about and thinking about which one is best for us to settle down in. We always knew that New York City was temporary, we have been here now for almost two years and are ready (sooner than we thought) to settle into a home. It was a decision we have put soooo much thought into and we are so sad to leave New York City soon but I think at this time it is just what is right for us! NYC is the center of the universe in my mind with so many things to see and do and is treating us so well until our lease is up. I will never get over all of the parks, playgrounds, museums, and every single building. And while everything is twice as exciting here, its also twice as hard. I truly know our family could be happy anywhere. If we were stuck in a little hut with nothing to do but hang out with each other, I would have a blast. But I think a home near family is what is calling our name!

We haven’t yet bought land, we are still looking and hoping to make a final decision in the next week or so. I won’t say where we are going yet, since I feel like anytime I jump the gun before something is set in stone, something happens! And I don’t want anything to happen. (I am superstitious eek.) But I feel really happy and at peace with our decision!!! And I am so happy to have a backyard for our babies (not that NYC isn’t an incredible backyard, because it is!) and for our DOG! Ah that sweet dog. He has put up with NYC for a long time. And us. And our travels. He is such a loyal dog, so sweet spirited, and we love him so much and I am so excited for him to have space to run around all day long. I bet he will be sad to leave his babysitter who watches him when we are gone because they love each other and he loves her golden retriever too! But oh man, that dog will be so happy. Our lease is up end of this year. After that we do have plans until our home is built but again I want to wait until everything is finalized and 100% official to say any more.

I am so so unbelievably happy at this point in my life. Truly I wouldn’t believe anyone if they said this would be life with these amazing kids and husband. I feel so blessed to have them with me every day. Atticus has been non stop talking the past couple weeks and me and David can’t stop smiling when he chats. I mean, really, non stop. Its so cute how into it he gets and I think may favorite part is his hand gestures. We love watching him help us with chores, sort silverware, ride his scooter, read with us, and just watching him be his crazy self. Rosie is now taking a bottle and it STUCK this time (hoooooray!) and she is sleeping through the night. Now that she sleeps she is 100% dream baby. It is amazing how you can feel so different after getting sleep, for both her and I!

Anyways, excited to share more news with you when we have more to share and excited to share our building process with you all! Feeling super excited about where life is taking us next. Thanks for reading, we love you all!!!!

  2. I am so excited to hear you guys found some land now, I totally missed this post when you posted it originally. I hope you post updates of the building process!

  3. Ahhh.. I’m so happy for you guys! Your family will be so blessed no matter where you end up! Obviously AZ would be awesome because that’s where my husband and I live but so excited for the news to come! Praying for you and your family!

  4. I can so relate to this post because we recently moved from NYC to Atlanta. We had such love/hate relationship with Manhattan. We lived on the Upper West Side and we were obsessed with walking through Riverside Park & Central Park and we loved that so many amazing places were always right at our fingertips…but oh my word! We have 2 babies and hitting the subway with a double stroller always stressed me out. I hated trying to hail a cab during all those snow storms…and getting all the winter clothes on our babies to take our dogs out for a walk during the winter was just so dang hard. We’ve been in Atlanta for 4 months now and I don’t think I’ll ever be done with NYC – it’s just such a magical place – but I am so so happy now that we have a house with a yard! Can’t wait to follow your new adventures! 🙂

  5. We are building a house right now as well! It’s such a fun process, can’t wait to hear more about yours!

  6. I love your blog and follow your snaps everyday! Anyway, I have a 14-month old with my husband. We are from Canada and have been living in Australia for 6-years. Obviously we love Australia and it’s gorgeous but we really want to move back closer to family. You can’t replace that time with family. It’s so important for your children to have that support as they grow up too. While David & you might love NYC, it’s probably not best for the kids. Being closer to family and having space will be great. For us, it’s also a lot cheaper to get a nice big house in Canada because in Australia you pay a fortune for just a basic house. All the best Amber, David, Atticus and Rosie! Xx

  7. Amber that is so exciting that you guys are heading into this next chapter! That’s so fun that you will get to be close to family with the new home!! We are land shopping right now too and it’s so fun and exciting to envision your dream home, so excited you will get to start that process! I can’t wait to see the home you build, it will be a dream I’m sure! I’m so happy to hear you guys are so happy and enjoying where you’re at. That is the very best!

    xoxo Angela

  8. I love reading your posts…not just for the beautiful clothes or places you go…but because you’re so upbeat and positive. I tend to naturally be so pessimistic, but your optimism always give me a little boost in the other direction every time I read something you write. So thanks for writing, Amber! And I’m excited to see your adventures in whatever new place you end up!

  9. How exciting! It’s always such a great feeling to have things settled down a bit. Crossing my fingers everything goes through smoothly for you guys.

  10. I love reading your blog and seeing your beautiful photos of your adorable family. I just wanted to stop in and say that, at least from what it appears from the computer screen, you seem to be amazing parents! (I know how nice it is to hear that every now & then, so I figured I’d let you know!)

Best of luck with the move!!

  11. So exciting! Maybe a weekend house in Southern California?

My favorite thing in the world is watching my baby grow and learn new things! It’s so exciting but makes it seem like time is just flying by. Glad you are finally getting some sleep! ????????

  17. Hey Amber! If you’re still looking at some land and you’re considering UT, you should definitely check out Vineyard right now! We just bought some property there to start building. There are 4 (I think) different builders who are collaborating on the area, they’ll be importing tropical beach sand to a huge section of Utah Lake (since Vineyard is right on the lake) and cleaning the water and putting in a nice new pier, which is super exciting around here cause Utah lake has kind of been a giant waste of a lake so far from being so dirty and not super accessible. But then in their communities they will be building a few big splash pads, 2 clubhouses with an outdoor pool and gyms with daycare that the HOA pays for which is super cheap and super nice! And then a bunch of huge parks with a long bike trail running throughout. The builders we’re building with are called Flagship Homes and the community is Water’s Edge. You should check it out, it’s the top equity building area in all of Utah right now. The houses are super nice too. The backyard is what I’m suuuuper excited for too haha. We’ve got a Boxer and a fat Saint Bernard, and a crazy 3 year old girl haha so we’re excited for that as well. Anyway, glad to see you guys are doing so well and super excited for your move closer to your fam! Here’s a link to the community site if you’re interested-

  18. Yay for your new adventure! We just bought a house with a yard after living in a studio for awhile, and my dog doesn’t even know what to do with himself! He runs and plays all day, it’s precious.

  19. So cute!! I am very excited for you guys!!!❤️❤️❤️❤️????

  20. If I could I would definitely move to Utah! There are so many amazing outdoor places and so much to do outside! Good luck making your decision. (

  21. Congrats! This is a wonderful time for your family. You’ll make the best choice and it will be great!

  22. Such great news!!! So excited for you guys! I’m sure you’re happy Rosie is funalky sleeping through the night! My 3 month out of the blue started sleeping through that night and I couldn’t be more thrilled! Sleep for mammas! Love you guys! God bless, hope your dream comes true!

  23. Please please share how you got Rosie to take a bottle and what kind of bottle?

  24. Ah how exciting! My husband and I are the same age as you guys & we build custom homes in Kansas. We just finished our own personal home- such a blast! Have so much fun with the process!

  34. WOW I only come to this blog for the photos but have never actually read the blog posts until today.. this is horrible grammar and so poorly put together I found myself cringing while trying to read this. Not to take away from your happiness or the amazing news you share with your followers but I found it hard just to finish reading. (pet peeve of mine sorry) Having someone proofread the work did wonders for me. (just something minor to consider and completely optional) Anyways love your photos and lovely family

  35. That’s so exciting!!! Thank you for sharing with everyone. A home is somewhere memories are made in every single corner, wall and floor. happy for you and your family!

  36. Aww! How exciting to start building your house near family. Best of luck, and enjoy your last months in NYC. I miss that city every day. It is amazing how much Atticus likes to talk to you and David and help in the house. Loved the snapchat videos!

  37. Don’t settle back home yet. You and your family should take this time to live and travel around the country and the world. Once it’s time for your son to start school, you will no longer have that freedom. Utah will still be there in a few years. So will Arizona. But your current lifestyle can only really be temporary – so take full advantage of it while you can. A nice home, a big yard, a strong community, and proximity to friends and family are amazing, important, and significant. You should cultivate and share that world with your children. But you are also cultivating and sharing a very special, unique, and beautiful world with them now too. They deserve to experience both to the fullest extent possible. Don’t cut this limited time short. You won’t have the opportunities you do now in a few years.

  38. I’m so excited for you guys!! Building a home sounds like so much fun and I’m sure you will make it look AMAZING!! I can’t wait to read more about the process!!

  39. I know what you mean about being around family. Both me and my hubby’s family are in town and it has been truly a blessing having our daughter grow up with her cousins and aunts and uncles. It is also so awesome having her close to grandparents so she can grow up to know them really well. Another benefit. One day a week grandparents take the kid so we can have a date night once a week! We decided to remodel instead of build. Has been a process since 2009 when we moved in and difficult to do with a child especially since we do most of the work. If I would to do it again I would build. Man would be so nice to pick things out and have someone else do the install. Good luck with the process and u hope you get what you have been dreaming of.

  40. So happy for you and your family! You’re a true dream of a wife and mom, I love following what is going on with you! And so excited that everything is perfect right now <3 Thanks for being an inspiration and motivation for my future!

  41. Either state would be good! Thank you for always sharing such sweet posts and hilarious snapchat, you are always so real and I love it! Thank you! ????

  42. Your kiddos are the cutest!!! Can’t wait to see your new house!

  43. I’m so happy for you guys! It’s probably going to feel SO luxurious to have a whole house! I hope everything works out for you guys!! ????

  44. Soooo very excited for you all! Being near family is honestly they best! May you all be blessed in your new chapter and NYC will always be there to visit. ???? Congrats!

  45. So adorable!!!!! Although I was wondering, will you still be traveling a lot like you have been, or even traveling at all? Also, once you move will you still blog? Because I will be really sad if you stop blogging.

  46. Oh Amber it’s like you’re living a more glamorous version of my life! I got married 3 years ago, have a 2 year old and a 7 month old, we live in the heart of Boston and are looking forward to next year when we get to move back to Texas to settle down and have a home with a yard and be near family again!! It IS hard to handle kids in the city! It’s been an amazing experience but I’m looking forward to next year!
Thanks for letting us follow along your journey! I’ve been following you for about 4 years now. We’ve both had a lot happen in that short time! Haha. What a ride! I pray you end up exactly where you’re meant to be! 🙂 you have a beautiful family and a beautiful heart. ???? All the best!

  47. Very cool, God bless and all the best to you and your adorable family! ????????????????????

Love the picture of Atticus and Rosie sitting together!

  51. Are you now feeding Rosie pumped milk or formula?? And if formula, how often did you give it to her before now? Sorry if I am being nosy, I just have a 5 month old boy and am curious!! They are sosososoooo cute!

  55. The photographs of your beautiful family, including your lovely dog are so inspiring. How exciting that you have some wonderful adventures ahead to make a home all together. Bestest wishes.

Keep Calm and Start Writing –

  56. Ok that’s so exciting!! I always think how do you mamas do it in NYC?! So fun but I know there are trade off to everything!

I’m also wondering what your email is? Am I dumb and can’t find it?! Wanting to hire you for a collaboration for my company. I designed them myself and really think you’d love them!

  57. Aww very exciting journey ahead for you guys! Fab news!! I guess you have a hugely emotional rollercoaster coming up over the coming months so stay strong and enjoy it!
Ps, just watched the latest utube vid! I cant wait to put it into practice! I’ve literally just had a fringe/bangs cut in to hide my post baby short bits! 🙁 we’ve had way too much humidity here lately for bangs!!!
PPS loving the pic of A in the puddle!! Priceless!! 😀

  58. This post makes me so happy! I am really excited to find out your final decision! I can wait for that point in my life-everything is wonderful for my long-term boyfriend and I but we are itching to go back where our families live in a couple more years.

  59. Exciting news! What’s right for people and at what time is all different! I can’t wait to hear about where you decide to settle down with your family and I can’t wait to see all the HOME DECOR!

  60. Wonderful post with the most adorable photos????

  61. So exciting! I couldn’t imagine how hard it would be having little ones in the city. But I’m sure it also has its perks, too. We are also looking for our dream house and can’t wait to have that feeling of peace. May God continue to bless you and your family on your journey xo Beautifully Candid

  62. So exciting! I lived in NYC for about 6 years so I know what you mean when you say everything is exciting but really hard. I loved the city and I miss it so much but it also feels good to be more relaxed and close to family. I am sure this will be a great decision for you and your family and also another new adventure! Best of luck- can’t wait to follow along on your blog. And that photo of Atticus sitting in the puddle is too funny!

  63. I don’t usually comment on posts but I felt this one really deserved it. The knowledge you have at such a young age to know what you want and what is best for your babies is inspiring. I have always felt like both you and David are amazing/strong individuals and very wise beyond your years. I find you both so charming and always have a smile on my face when I read your posts or see a new YouTube video. David’s recent video for Atticus’ birthday was so good! (and shameful secret — I now get a 1/2 Starburst strawberry 1/2 Baja blast freeze at Taco Bell EVERY time I go – sooooo Good, I know it was a random circumstance but thanks girl!) I enjoy being a part of your thousands of readers and subscribers. What really sticks out to me most in this post is the blurb about Chauncey. I am always amazed at how your pup rolls with the punches. HE makes me want a golden retriever so badly and eventually I will probably have one just because of him. The way he plays with Atticus and kisses on Rosie. He is a dream dog. The fact that you mentioned that this home was also beneficial for HIM was just so sweet. Cheers to you and your family and the exciting things to come. I look forward to seeing what is in store for your sweet bunch.

  64. So happy for you guys!! How did you get Rosie to sleep through the night? I need help! From a tired mama. ❤️

  65. i am so excited for you!! (and for me too, because i’m hoping to move to somewhere in the southwest next year and i would LOVE to hear about what factors went into your decision)

  66. Thank you so much for keeping us all updated on what is going on in your lives. I am so excited for all of you and I am happy you will be near family again. I will continue to follow your family no matter where you are! Best of luck to you in the coming months 🙂

  67. Congratulations Amber! You are such an inspiration and role model to me. I cant wait to see where your adventure leads next! Best of luck! 🙂

  68. Congratulations Amber! You are such an inspiration and role model to me. I love your blog and cant wait to see where your adventure leads next! Best of luck! 🙂

  69. It is so tough making those big life decisions, but I’m so glad everything is coming together. Family is super important to me too, so I know how happy you must be to get to move closer to them. Your little family is just the cutest! My niece is just a little bit younger than A, and it really is such a fun age!

  70. I can’t wait to follow along on the journey of you building and moving! Sounds like it was a great decision for your family!! PS – how cute are A and R staring at each other and laughing?! #idie

    How 2 Wear It []

  71. I’ve only started following your blog recently, so I’m a little surprised by how happy this post made me. Maybe I’m just dreaming about the day me and my family will finally be able to move into a house (with a huge backyard for my son to run around in), or maybe your happiness in this decision is just super infectious. Anyway I’m just so happy to hear that you’re at that point in your life when you can move into a house (apartment living with kids can definitely be HARD) with your adorable fam. So happy for you guys!!

  72. Yay so happy for your family! Can’t wait to see what’s next! And if you drive down all your stuff and happen to stop in KC… Be sure to say hi 😉

  73. Such exciting news for your family! I think it is totally normal to feel a little sad about leaving such a cool city but still excited for a bigger home, yard and proximity to family. I can’t wait to see what’s on the horizon for you guys (:

  74. How exciting! New chapter to unfold. I hear ya about NYC. Its an amazing place to be but I am at the point too of wanting to settle and get a home with a yard, and garden! I wish you guys all the best in your journey to find the best location, you’re one lucky gal that you have the ability to build your dream home!! Cannot wait to see the process 🙂

  75. Fingers crossed you get the land you all want. These are some gorgeous photos, they put a big smile on my face.

  78. I love your blog Amber! I can’t wait to see where you end up! You have such a cute little family 🙂

  79. I just want to stop and say best of luck and my fingers are crossed for you. Anything that involves land and homes is stressful. These home sellers don’t make it easy!!

  80. I’m so happy for you and your beautiful family! NYC does look so fun but sometimes hard. I can’t wait to see where you guys end up! It’s going to be so fun for you guys to create and decorate your own space! Eeek! <3

  81. This is one of my favorite posts! I hope to one day be in the same position you are in (you are living the dream girl). I also have a hard time deciding whether to leave LA. Ps. Atticus is killing the speech game, I love how he says No to everything haha those babies are just precious!!!
