DRESS: Gap / HAT: Eric Javits / SWIMSUIT: Solid & Striped / SUNGLASSES: Le Spec / KIDS SUIT’S: Minnow

Kids are asleep and I was going through photos from today and decided to throw them up on here because I am loving Nantucket!!!! It is our first time here and it is the most adorable town ever. Its almost like they said “you can only build a home here if you promise to make it adorable. and plant a lot of flowers.” We are loving it. We went to see Sankaty Lighthouse, walked around Sconset, had picnics on the beach for lunch and dinner, got the Green Monster at the Juice Shop (ironically the green monster is homemade ice cream!), and didn’t go in the water!!! People warned us of sharks here and whether its true or not, I wouldn’t dare dip my toe in after hearing the word shark!

We are only doing a quick trip here, only one more full day, since I have to be back for an event in New York City but I imagine we will be coming back! Only a 45 min plane ride! Oh and a PSA that tickets are realllllly cheap from NYC the first couple weeks in October from JFK –> ACK!!

Hope you all are having a good week!!!

  1. Hi! Could you let me know where you found this dress or have seen similar ones (if you did a little research!) Glad you liked Nantucket, my happy place certainly

  2. I love the grainy texture in these photos! They look like they belong in a magazine spread 🙂
What size bathing suit did you get from Solid and Striped? I am the same height as you but have no idea what size to buy!!

  3. I love Nantucket and that striped lighthouse! I live in Boston and have only been there once.

  4. Are you guys using a new filter? I love the grainy-er look of these photos, it makes them look vintage. Precious!

  5. I cannot get over Rosie’s dress! Your family is the cutest – love reading about your adventures!

  6. As always you and your family absolutely look gorgeous! I’m delighted you’ve discovered Nantucket, where my own family has a summer home. However, as an MD specializing in infectious disease, I must warn you that playing barefoot in the tall grass (as you are in these photos) is unwise at best and dangerous at worst, as Nantucket has alarmingly high rates of lyme-disease and lyme-carrying deer ticks (2nd highest in MA between 2010-2014 per The Boston Globe ). Tall grasses like those shown here are among the foremost environments to avoid — especially without protective clothing and footwear! I sincerely hope that you regularly checked yourselves and your children for ticks (which can be easy to miss among the darker-colored grains of sand after a day on the beach, given that ticks can be tiny — just a few millimeters in diameter). I assume that since you are Nantucket newbies, you must have been unaware of this (especially since I know you’d be loathe to model such dangerous behavior for your legion of devoted followers). The good news is it’s not too late: give your kids a careful once-over in the bath (especially in hard-to-see places like baby’s skin folds, etc.), and be hyper-vigilant in the event that any of you should develop flu-like symptoms in the coming weeks, and/or a bug bite with the typical “bullseye” shaped rash; hopefully you’ll all be just fine, but if you or your family DO develop any lyme-like symptoms, seek medical attention immediately. If caught early the disease can often be cured and/or arrested by a simple course of antibiotics. Sorry if this sounds alarmist — but given the exponentially-rising rates of lyme on the Cape and Islands (not to mention the increasing number of lyme patients I see in my own practice), I thought you’d want a heads-up, as I know how seriously you take your family’s health and safety! Good luck 🙂

    1. Hi!! Thank you so much for this info! I didn’t know about ticks on the island and was really worried and felt sick when someone first pointed this out! I had the kids checked and luckily we are all good but I do appreciate people pointing it out! I need to be better at checking those types of things before we travel new places – so thank you!!!

  7. Hi Amber, i am a Susan from Berlin (Germany)

… my sister is the “color coordinator” in our family and when it’s something special she gives us a color scheme 🙂 it’s cute and fun! And these pics prove it!! Y’all really look great…..I scrolled down to leave a comment after pic #6 haha!! Now I’ll go back and enjoy the rest of it! PS I cannoooott wait to watch the new family home progress unfold!!!! I’m so happy and excited for y’all!!! And I know it’ll be a dreamy, beautiful home 🙂

  9. Glad you’re loving Nantucket! Being from Boston, it’s one of my favorite classic summer getaway spots. You’ve completely captured the charm and style of Nantucket, nicely done!

  10. I love these, Amber!! I wish I would have made it to Nantucket when my family and I lived in Boston in middle school. That being said, it’d probably be more fun to go as an adult! And one of my girlfriend and her hubby just moved to Boston, so I might be due for a visit to the area… 🙂

Also loving the grainy look of these photos! David’s photography style continues to evolve in such cool ways– I love that you guys never shy away from experimenting!

Oh and you’re killing it in the gingham!!!

  15. Love how you all match the lighthouse!! Your blog still makes me smile every single time I look at it (basically every day ha!) – thank you!! xoxo

  16. Did you use a different camera? Your photos have a grainy affect compared to your other photos.

  17. If you go again, you neeeeeed a downy flake cinnamon sugar donut, they are ridiculously amazing, and the sandwiches at something natural, especially the curry chicken salad on their Portuguese bread, oh ma lanta it’s heavenly, but if you’re downtown provisions has some pretty bomb tom terrifies as well! Cisco brewery is pretty cool, dock 41 has really great things if you want to eat out. The club car is super fun! And you can definitely swim at jetties beach!!! Surfside beach is so fun but too rough for little kids! Pollocks has really original clothes! And if you go back to the juice bar get a watermelon cream, between those and the downy flake I dream of Nantucket all year! Pinwheels has adorable kids clothes and I always absolutely loved the toy boat toy store when I was little, also if you just want a cup of chowder the tavern has great chowder! I hope you loved the island as much as I do!

  18. Your family is just the cutest! I love both your gingham shirt-dress and your swimsuit. Soooooo cute! And atticus is adorable trying to read

  20. I’ve always wanted to go to Nantucket, so it’s funny or ironic that you’re bragging on the place!! 🙂 There was a show back in the 90s that I loved watching, a sitcom titled “Wings” and they lived in Nantucket! Haven’t kept up with your blog much this summer other than instagram pictures, but have caught up the past couple of days and read that you guys are moving to AZ. That’s awesome & neat you’ll be settling down with a house of your own near family! Always love your photos, writings, beauty and hair tips <3 Thank you always for sharing. Will you continue your blog once you move?
