A Meaningful Gift for Grandma and Grandpa
For the last six or so months we have been working on a Christmas gift for my mom and dad from the kiddos! Since Atticus (and Rosie!) love taking pictures we thought it would be fun to do a memory book of photos the kids take while over at my mom’s spending time with her – memories through their eyes (although we wanted Atticus to be in the pics too, so we took some).
We ordered a blank scrapbook and a FUJIFILM instax SQUARE® SQ6 instant print camera and have been filling the pages with all the little squares of memories! We have also been adding pages where we ask the kids questions about their grandparents and they write their answers.. Things such as what they love most about grandma/papa, their favorite color, how old are they, if they were an animal what animal would they be, and just fun, silly questions like that! And then of course we incorporate some drawings by the kiddos. I think it will be a fun and meaningful gift to give my parents since this is our first full year living in Arizona with the kids being close to them where they have really developed a sweet relationship.

There are some cool features that the instax camera model has to offer such as the Automatic Exposure Control. This allows brightening both the subject and background of a photo — perfect for dark rooms and night scenes. And, there’s a Double Exposure Mode – imagine pressing the shutter button twice with two different and unrelated subjects and getting a super cool and artistic single print!
But most of all I loved that the instax SQ6 is easy for the kids to use and seeing things through their eyes is so fun – the picture coming right out of the camera amazed them! There are a lot of creative DIY projects you can do with these prints too! I have been documenting the growth of my baby bump through with this camera and am going to have all 9 months framed together. 🙂 I also love to hang them on our fridge and around the house.
Hope you guys have a good day! xo

My dad is like the hardest person ever to shop for. He buys everything he needs/wants so it has always been super difficult for us kids to decide what to get him. He doesn’t like any of those cheesy dad gifts like a bbq apron that says “grill master” or anything like that. But last year my siblings and I decided to get him an avocado tree for Christmas. He loves avocados and eats them as much as he can, but they are so expensive in the grocery store. He loved it and is still very happy for his avocados. I just think it’s good to think outside of the retail box sometimes and dig deep into what people you love love. I hope this helps someone.
Where did you get the scrapbook?
The photo of the three of you together cheesin’ is such a keeper! My goodness, you look like triplets. Love instant cameras! My husband and I have one and love chronicling our travels through instant film. It’s so candid!
