Warning: LONG POST! So the last six months have been a total whirlwind for us. Of course as you guys know we were previously living in New York City and despite our love for the city, we felt like we needed to be somewhere else. We started searching and praying about it and finally felt really good about moving to Arizona. We purchased a lot and started designing our dream home that we planned to build. We had a while till it would be done and decided to pick up and move to Hawaii while the home was being built. The moment we got to Hawaii we just felt sooo good and things felt so right that we started to wonder if we should stay longer than we had planned. We were going back and forth but ultimately we decided that we would put the home build on pause. At this point the plans were done but we hadn’t actually broken ground yet so it was a good time to pause and think. We kind of thought we should stay in Hawaii for a few years and then move to Arizona and build the home when Atticus starts kindergarten or first grade — and rent out our home in Hawaii when we make the move. We kind of thought, when are we ever going to be able to do this again? So that was our plan and we were looking for homes to buy. We looked at SO MANY homes and came close to getting one. (oh also, if you are in Hawaii, Noel is THEE coolest realtor ever!!! we freaken LOVE him!) Anyways, we kept looking and looking and nothing was seeming like the perfect spot for us. Then not too long ago we received some news about a family member that kind of changed everything and made us realize why things weren’t falling into place for us in Hawaii. We knew we needed to be on the mainland to be closer to our family and more accessible to them and made the decision to quickly move back to Arizona and pick up where we left off with the home build.

Long story short — we are now in Arizona in a rental until our home is done being built. We will break ground hopefully soon but dang, this whole home build thing is such a long process. We will still be documenting the process and I promise our content won’t totally bore you in Arizona 😉 Even though I was sad to leave Hawaii (okay really really really sad) it feels good to be close to family. My sisters, parents, and grandparents live here and I love so much seeing them daily. Plus my youngest sister in pregnant which makes it fun to be here during her pregnancy.

We had all of our stuff from NYC in storage in Jersey and only brought about 5% of our belongings to Hawaii so we finally got all of our other stuff back and WOAH. I did not realize how much stuff we have. Gah. It took a long time to go through it all and move it into our place in AZ… I kept wondering “how did we fit this in a NYC apartment??” But the kids are in heaven with all of these “new” toys that they forgot about 😉 score. And the movers only broke one TV and dinged up so much our furniture soooo…. *eye roll.

Being in Hawaii was a really good cleanse for me. I feel like I learned a lot just in those short six months and for some reason being in Hawaii made me look at life different. I think myself and the rest of the fam were able to grow a lot and have a lotttt of fun doing so. It was such a fun six months filled with endless memories I will seriously remember forever and ever. North Shore is just the coolest spot with the coolest people. Seriously some of my favorite people ever! We lived in a rental that we rented from a girl I actually met on social media! I have already said on here before but she commented on one of our pics and I had responded and I saw that she had a little blonde boy the same age as Atticus. I messaged her and one thing led to another and we were suddenly renting their upstairs unit. It was so fun to hang with them the whole time we were in Hawaii and they totally took us under their wing and showed us the ropes. Endlessly thankful to have met them. And endlessly thankful to have seen and learned so much from all of the moms over there. I loved seeing all of their parenting styles and learning from them.

Anyways – we are super excited to be on this next adventure. A lot of people get so stressed out by our nomad lives haha but I don’t know, we love it. It will be nice though to have a place of our own that we can start making lots of memories in! Atticus already had his first day of speech therapy here with the same girl we used anytime we would visit AZ and it is so nice because they totally click — today he chased after her and gave her a big smooch on her way out. We have already swam about twice a day, spent way too much money at costco, are going to buy a MINI VAN this week (the debate is Sienna or Odyssey ahhh), and I have been to Target about 10 times so I would say we are settling in quite nice ha. We got an office close by that we can work from and it will be nice to not have to work from home all of the time (it can get tricky with the little ones!) We are building out our team here which I am super excited about. Lots of fun things going on!!

And Hawaii – I will forever love everything about you!!!!

  1. So many gorgeous places in AZ…can’t wait to see your travels around the stare! Antelope Canyon, Havasupai, the Wave…I wish I had your family’s photography skills when I visited those places!!

  2. I was so excited when I saw one of your Instagram posts that looked like an AZ landscape and then to actually realize you moved here made me so excited! I look forward to all of your fun posts and welcome back to the desert ✌🏼🌵

  3. Hey, Amber! Our family actually has two Honda Odysseys! I am in college, and driving the old one (a 1999 and it still runs AMAZING) and we also have the 2015! Best vans ever and I would totally recommend them!
We also just visited Hawaii, and the North Shore. Oh. My. Gosh. Absolutely breathtaking. It almost feels like it’s just too good to be true! So happy for you and your family! Love seeing the life updates 🙂

  4. Such a wonderful adventure as a family! We are somewhat in the same predicament, we recently sold our home, moved to a new state and are leasing until we find a permanent home and plan on building as well. I have to remind myself that when we find the right spot, we will know it too. I’m glad you two found your place in AZ, and you get to be close to family. Time does go by far too quickly. Best Wishes!

  5. Aw, I am so happy to read this update! What a fun, exciting, emotional I’m sure, whirlwind. I’m so happy that your entire Hawaii time was bliss, sometimes it’s best to leave things while they are still so sweet. It will always hold a special little spot for you! Anyway, I can’t WAIT to see the house, it will be absolutely dreamy I’m sure!! Congrats!!!

  6. This seriously has me so jealous!!!!! I would LOVE to live in Hawaii! Love following along on your journey!

  7. I have been super excited seeing your “nomad lifestyle” pics because your family was echoing trips our family had taken. We love NYC, live in AZ, and my husband and I had just spent 10 days honeymooning on the North Shore when I saw you were there, too. It brought me such joy to see you guys in familiar places and having a blast like we did. Congrats on the new home and welcome (back?) to the Valley 🙂

  8. Good luck on your new adventure! I do have to admit that I am pregnant and very emotional and I may have cried a tad bit that I won’t be seeing anymore Hawaii posts or pics (I’m obsessed with Hawaii and was killing my urge to get on a plane through your posts)

  9. Catching up on your blog. These life experiences are so exciting, and I’m so happy for you and your family!

  10. Love this!! Have y’all ever considered visiting Colorado? I feel like y’all would love it 🙂

  11. As silly as it sounds I’ve been so excited for you guys to move to AZ. I’m always looking for fun things to do with my babies and i know you will post about awesome places I’ve never been to :p

  12. So crazy that you’ve lived in Hawaii for 6 month! Must be a dream 🙂 I really want to live in Hawaii for a longer period of time (probably not 6 month 😀 ) and really explore the islands! They have so much to offer 🙂
Your plans sound super interesting and I am so so happy to see you new house! Must be lovely 🙂

    Love from Germany
    Xx Paulie <3

  13. Definitely check out Luci’s at the Orchard. They have a little splashpad and it’s a very popular place for moms! Also, The Teapot in Downtown Phoenix!

  14. Where are you guys planning to build? Hoping to see you around in Scottsdale sometime 🤗

  15. This is great! Excited to see the transition for the move. Will you be sharing on your home building process ? It’s something my family and I would like to do one day and I would love to hear your perspective and advice !

  16. We are traveling the world as a family for the last 6 months and it has been amazing the time we get to spend together. I totally get your comment about people not understanding the Nomad life…lol we are loving it and cherish this time we have together. Well, just think you can always escape again for another 6 months somewhere down the line…but there is nothing like being closer to family if you can! Enjoy your time in Arizona! I love following along on your adventures.

  17. I currently live in AZ right now and my family and I are moving to Oahu in July!!! Im glad you loved Hawaii!!! AZ IS SO HOT BTW!!! Excited for you though!

  18. Not a mini van! Haha. I just had my third baby and got a brand new suburban with the works. Ahhh, it is the best, and my hubs said I look like a hot soccer mom rollin’ up in it 😉

  19. Absolutely excited about your new adventures as a family and hope to come along with you! Love from SC

  20. I recently moved “home” after living in NYC, Chicago, London and LA. It’s hard to know when to move home…I know. And it’s hard when you get there to feel like you’re closing the door on your big adventures in life and now life becomes vanilla. At least that’s how I feel. I too moved home due to tough circumstances that pushed me before I was ready. all of this is to say…I think I get how you might be feeling! Praying for your family member that you mentioned receiving news about.

  21. If you come up to Prescott, Let me know. So many beautiful hidden gems up here in northern AZ. It is spectacular! Welcome to the good life!!

  22. We are visiting arizona soon, do you have any recommendations for places to stay or rentals? also, family friendly things to do?! thanks so much, always love your travel tips!

  23. I’m so glad you got to experience Hawaii on a locals level. My husband and I lived on Maui for 2 years and had a blast. What a fun time for you and your family, something you will never forget.

    Monica // http://www.ginghamandcord.com

  24. How exciting! I am a big believer on taking adventures and if you are able to do so for months at a time it would be so worth it! If my husbands job wasn’t so nailed down in NY we would be living a nomad life as well. Being close to family tho is something that you can never replace, so exciting for you guys! Cannot wait to follow the building of this new home 🙂 We are currently in the midst of the home buying and close soon! These new chapters in life as so exciting. Congrats again!

  25. The Pacifica! It’s seriously amazing. I do not mind being a mini van mom at all!

  26. That’s amazing Im always so inspired by your nomadic lifestyle

  27. Hey there! We are in the process of moving to Hawaii ourselves within the next couple of months. We live in Provo now, but my husband’s health needs sea level at this time… Is the place you rented still available? Or could you send me her info and I can research it more? We also have a son that is just a few months younger than Atticus and looking for a fun place for him and for us!

  28. That’s awesome that you guys decided to be close to family. I lived on Maui for 8 mo and loved every minute of it (originally a Cali girl) It seriously does change your perspective on life in such a good way. I miss it soo much! So happy that you got to have that kind of experience and now you can plan future trips back and the kids will have such special memories!

  29. I love hearing updates from you Amber! So glad that your family is finding the place where you guys feel the best right now in life. <3 Living in Hawaii looked like a total dream, and I would love to do that one day! But being by family is always a wonderful thing, because home is where the heart is. 🙂 Hoping that your home build goes quickly, and you guys can get all settled in soon!!!

    Moments of a Mermaid

  30. Thanks for the post. I am currently in a transition stage as well and needed a reminder that things work out the way they are supposed to for a reason! Love hearing your stories!

  31. How awesome to have all these experiences & memories with your family!! You guys travel so much that now you’ll have the best of both worlds traveling and family close by! Can’t beat that!

  32. You guys have a beautiful life. We are building our own home in AZ currently too. A long process but so so worth it. Good luck!

  33. Hi Amber 😊
oh no I am visiting in December for the first time Hawaii and since I am a huge fan of you (for years), I thought that I could meet you in Hawaii and eat an acai bowl 😊I loved your Hawaii postings, but I can understand you, family should habe priority.

    Greetings from Austria

  34. Get the sienna! There interior components(stereo touch screen, even their ac knobs) look so much more up to date than hondas also A/C is better in a Sienna.

  35. I was hoping that you would live in Hawaii forever so I could live vicariously through you. I ended up moving home from a dream city once my mom had gotten cancer. Its hard but family is truly what life is about. Thank you for sharing your lives with us. All the best and welcome back to the mainland!

  36. The Odyssey is an amazing car! My mom bought ours in 2003, and she is still using it! It got me and my sister to college with all of our belongings, took us up to sleepaway camp every summer, and has been on so many road trips. It’s a super safe, comfortable, big car, and we absolutely love it. I know my mom is dreading saying goodbye to it soon. After 14 years, it’s still chugging along!

  37. Hi there!

Does anyone know many months are Atticus and Rosie apart? (for my own planning 🙂 )

Your pictures are always incredibly beautiful!

  38. Honda Odyssey is honestly a great vehicle! My mother has been driving one for about 8 years? 7 years now? and she loves it. It’s the only van that hasn’t caused us a ton of trouble (there’s 6 of us in the family). We really love it, it’s such a smooth driver and it’s sleek and very nice. Happy to see you guys are having fun moving and starting another adventure!

  39. Amber, I loved this update! I love your nomad lives and I really enjoy following you!! Wishing you the absolute best on this new adventure! XOXOXO

  40. I just read your blog, and I am in tears. I don’t know girl how you do it. Even not knowing you in person, you make me feel better and realize that our life is full of surprises and adventures. I feel that Hawaii really suit your family and you. You look so much better and fresher (can I say that), I am still trying to lose some baby fat, maybe not the baby just I love all the bad stuff.
I am excited to see your new house!!!

  41. Welcome home to the hot, blazing, scorching AZ summer – Amber and fam! Congrats on going forward with your house.

I’m a local Phx artist/painter – take a look if ever you’re interested in art for your home!

  42. Welcome to Arizona!! I live in Phoenix so I am super excited to see you going to some local spots!

  43. Crazy how things work some times! I vote Chrysler Pacifica ALL THE WAY. I know that wasn’t an option but they are amazing cars! We test drove one and LOVED it, you guys should check it out if you haven’t.

  44. Oh my goodness this is all so exciting, congrats!! Happy to hear things fell into place and you’re loving Arizona life!

Cathy, your Poor Little It Girl

  45. Amber that is great you are in Arizona now!! I live in Arizona too, maybe we will run into each other! That is so exciting to get a new car! If you are interested in the Honda Odyssey, have you thought about the Pilot? We love our Pilot!! I know they have changed the body style to look more van/ crossover like, so I can’t vouch for that, but we have the last body style and love our Pilot to death. Just thought I would throw that in in case you can’t make up your mind. Also, that is so neat that Atticus is doing so well in speech therapy. My oldest was in a preschool for speech therapy and it took a lot of emotion and strength getting her where she needed to be. She is now thriving and ready to start Kindergarten. It is amazing how much they can improve and all the support that is in that today. I wish the best for you and am so happy for you! Also, There is a new place called Urban Jungle for kids in AZ. We are thinking of checking it out this summer. It is an indoor play place.

  46. I love following your posts…You and your family are the cutest and I’m looking forward to your home building process…Keep up the beautiful posts….:)

  47. Truly inspiring family ❤️ Love to read your blog posts and see all the beautiful pictures you take

  48. Welcome back to Arizona! If you are in need of a nanny for the summer let me know!

  49. Aww I’m glad you are close to family again but I hope nothing bad happened to make you come home so quickly! I dream of living in Hawaii!

  50. Honda Odyssey all the way! I love ours that we bought 3 years ago- I call it the “sports car” of mini vans! And honestly with littles, I wouldn’t want to drive anything else!

  51. Love the pic & story. You have to start posting your lipstick shades though :-):-)

  52. This is sooo random but my vote is for sienna! My in-laws have an odyessy and it’s totally crapped out at 150,00 miles ….they’re actually thinking about getting a toyta Highlander’s

    Good luck!

  53. I love everything about this post. Except for the dinged up furniture and cracked tv ;( Welcome to Arizona, this 100+ is fun huh? 🙂

  54. This totally shows that everything happens for a reason! I love your positive outlook because I would be heartbroken if I had to leave Hawaii. Although, Arizona is beautiful too. Best of luck on your new adventure!

  55. It’s amazing how life works isn’t it? Sometimes we get disappointed with certain things not working out, only to be shown down the track why it didn’t happen. It’s a blessing in the end to have your path rerouted to the right place!
I can’t wait to follow your home building journey!

  56. You MUST MUST MUST go to Diego Pops, it’s a Mexican restaurant by Fashion Square. They have the most amazing Brussels sprouts nachos (I know it sounds weird but trust me) and the place is super cute and Instagramable

  57. Ah That is so amazing. I love seeing your kids just having the best time playing and getting dirty without a care in the world. All the best for you on this new adventure.
    xo, tabea

  58. So sorry your life in Hawaii had to end sooner than you anticipated… I hope everything is okay with the family! But hey, you got to live there for 6 months and not many people can say that.. I visited this past march for two weeks and absolutely loved everything about Oahu! I’m sure none of your followers are worried about your content being boring in Arizona… good luck, I can’t wait to see what you and your beautiful family get into next!

    IG @amandalennon

  59. So happy for you and your family! It’s so wonderful that you got to experience life in Hawaii, it’s beautiful there!! Excited to see and read about your new adventures in AZ. 🙂

  60. So exciting! Hope the home build goes well and glad you are close to your family. I loved your feed while you were in Hawaii and know your feed will be nice in Arizona! Happy your sweet kids are settling in while! Take care and God bless! Xoxo-Mary

  61. So excited for you guys! Can’t wait to see the new house!! Xoxo!

  62. I was so jealous that you guys got to live in Hawaii, but my hubby and I are moving to Az next month and I’m excited to see what you guys do there because we only know Utah life! Good luck with everything!

  63. Odyssey all the way! Also, though I loved the Hawaii visuals it’s nice to see you with fam!

  64. One of the reasons I am such a fan is of course the amazing style , but more importantly the way family is your main priority. You can’t go wrong moving closer to every one! Definitely a perfect choice.

  65. I related to the going to Target part a little too much (home is where the Target is, right?) Good luck on this next adventure! Glad you are closer to family.

  66. I love your blog and your life! Everyone thinks Arizona is so boring, I’ve lived here my whole life and LOVE it 💗 So much to do without traveling too far. California, Colorado, Mexico, and Northern Arizona all within only a few hours driving time 😌 I live in Chandler and am a college student looking for a babysitting/nanny gig so email/message me anytime! 😇🌵

  67. Hi Amber! Arizona is so much fun and there are lots of things to do there. The best thing you could choose is to be close to your family! Hope your enjoy your new Home! Visit often the Mesa temple visitors center and temple grounds with the kids they love it!!!

  68. I love your blog and read it all the time! Cutest family ever! We have an Odyssey and absolutely LOVE it! I can’t imagine doing the Sienna, we have the Touring version and it has EVERYTHING, it’s great!

  69. Amber … I live in NE Mesa and our son got early intervention for speech and went to a little preschool just for that starting age 3. AZ has wonderful benefits for these kiddos and it’s based solely on the needs of the child, not the income of the parents. By first grade he was all caught up and phased out of the speech program. Today he is your typical boy who plays sports, has a large group of friends, talks endlessly and just finished 9th grade. If you start early Atticus will thrive and catch up !

  70. you seem like such a sweet person. beautiful on the inside and outside. I love your style and seeing your adventures. I wish you and your family the best of luck in Arizona. Family always first! treasure every moment with them and maybe you can return to hawaii years from now.

  71. I too absolutely adore traveling. I love every aspect of it and even though I’m old enough to be your grandmother, I’d get up and go in a New York second.
Stuff is a real problem and will always continue to be if one is going to dream about having only one carry-on of possessions!

First I went to San Juan Del Sur Nicaragua and then I move to Hawaii as well but had a completely different experience. I just simply cannot take heat and humidity together and in the case of Nicaragua one gets scorpions thrown onto the equation.

Both countries have geckos invading all the homes and I mean there are billions of them. I’m a neatnik so I could never get used to waking up to gecko poop anywhere and everywhere all over the kitchen. Unrelenting LOL

So I’m very happy to be home again in California. The Bay Area is truly Paradise. Amen and amen !

  72. Congratulations on your move, however life happens is the way it’s meant to be. Hawaii is only a plane ride away! I’m i. Jersey with my family of 4 (actually a 2.5 year old boy and 10m old girl so we are in the same boat with the kiddos). Love your style and sense of adventure. Can’t wait to see all that awaits you in arizona!

  73. We love Arizona! Our little family of four lives in Scottsdale and there is always something to do with our littles (2 1/2 and 5 months) I always love watching your adventures and now That you’re in our state I can use them as ideas! Welcome back to Arizona… it’s a dry heat

  74. Goodluck with the home building! Hopefully your new home will be ready to move in to AFTER summer has passed 🙂 I live in Arizona too and LOVE IT, but around this time every year I always question my life choices living here LOL!
    Welcome back!

  75. Wow such craziness! So happy for you guys! I will kiss your Hawaii pics and insta stories of those kiddies in the sand hehe. Happy for your new adventure! 💛

  76. Glad you are following your intuition!! That is so important! I have to say that my little sister (who is 3, almost 4) had to take a speech therapy preschool this entire last year and she grew soo much! We would worry that she would never speak full, coherent sentences but now we can’t get her to stop! Some kids just need a little guidance…. completely normal! Wishing the best for you in AZ!

  77. as soon as i read this i thought, “NOOOOO!!!! DON’T LEAVE HAWAII!!!!!” haha i love your life in hawaii… oh well, best of luck in the new place and at least its summer, so the good weather will follow you! xxx

  78. Ahhh I did love you living in Hawaii but SO thrilled to have you here in AZ!! Sounds like you’re off to a good start with the swimming, definitely necessary with how stinking hot it is! I know you lived here before but let me know if you need a tour guide 😉

    xoxo, Brooke

  79. Hey girl!
I have been meaning to say hi for a while, pretty sure ya’ll were living down our street in Hawaii! We live at Backyards and saw your little family walking down to the beach quite often, we even bunped into ya at sunset and the thurs farmers market. My son Leo came to say hi to your kids, I think he’s right between their ages he’s 21 months 🙂 We just moved from NYC in January and I know you guys are from there too! We are currently back in NYC this month visiting or I would have come to your meet up at pipe. I loved following along on all your adventures, you even gave me a few ideas for spots to check out on the island. I’m right there with ya on loving all the sweet mama’s on this island and in awe of the parently styles and lifestyle. Wish we could have met and let the little ones play, but maybe we’ll see ya again if you ever come back! Best of luck on your next chapter and ALOHA! 🙂

  80. So happy your back on the mainland!!! Get the Toyota Sienna limited!! It is extra to get all the premium packages and stuff but SO WORTH it and it lasted me years!!! So much room and never breaks down unlike the Honda!!! HIGHLY reccomend the Toyota Sienna

  81. That’s great news Amber, congrats! Have you filled up your team spots?

  82. Your positive attitude and love for life is such a blessing to those around you! Thank you for sharing! Prayers for your family, I can’t imagine how difficult, but hope you feel all the love we send! Please share some Hawaii lessons you learned! I could use some “hang loose” in my life 💕

My husband had trouble speaking as a child and got to take 4 years of speech therapy as a 3 year old, he was so bad at talking that kids would laugh at him, or adults couldn’t understand him, and so embarrassed he would stop talking altogether. But that speech therapist was a saint! She gave him confidence and built him back up! Today my husband is an accountant with an expanding vocabulary and a compassion for people that I admire because of what he’d experienced as a child. I just wanted to share! I hope that’s okay! Love to you and yours!!

  83. I completely agree with everything you said about the North Shore- it’s kind of magical! I had the privilege of living there for 6 months while my husband finished his undergrad and it was such an amazing experience! We loved it so much that we are currently living the beach life again in Gold Coast, Australia and will be here for the next 5 years. There is something to be said about the laid back lifestyle that comes with living near the ocean!

  84. Congratulations on your new move. Can’t wait to see what’s next for you guys! 🙂

  85. You are so inspiring and perfect! I just got my Barefoot Blonde Hair in the mail today and feel 100000x more confident. I always show my boyfriend your blog and tell him this is how I want to raise our kids some day!! Anyways, much love from Scottsdale. xoxox, literally Barefoot Blonde fangirl

  86. So awesome! And if I can make a suggestion, go with the Sienna. My mom had hers for 12 years and had over 300,000 miles on it. Needless to say she is a firm believer in Toyota vehicles!

  87. I’m sad that you will no longer be in Hawaii. I was hoping to bump into you. I was on Kauai during your meet up so I missed out. I wish y’all the best and hope your family member is alright. I love seeing all of your pictures with your kids. You make parenthood look fun!

  88. I want to move to Hawaii so bad!!! It’s on my “someday” wish list! 🌺🌴☀️🌊🌈 Congratulations on your home projects and being close to family. That’s why I can’t move just yet. My kiddo loves his Gramma and Papa! Can’t wait to see more life updates! 😍

  89. Congrats! So curious about atticus and speech therapy. We were just told that my 2.5 year old would benefit from it too. His vocabulary is super limited. But I just wonder how a speech therapist is going to help?

Oh, and Sienna all the way! Can fit a double stroller in the trunk without even collapsing it! Life changing!

  90. That is so exciting about loving to Arizona I’m sure your sad about Hawaii but Arizona is pretty great too! Where in Arizona? I nanny in Gilbert so if you ever need a babysitter let me know;)

  91. Great post dear.. I always loved reading it 😘😘😘😘😘🙏🏻💗

  92. Ahhhh isn’t it crazy how Hawaii does that?! We lived there for 2 years when we were first married and had my first baby there. Life is just so different and slow and just amazing. I dream of moving back there alllll the time! One day!! We are also in AZ now.

Oh and go for the sienna!! Just got a brand new one a couple months ago and wowww I love it. Haha and I swore I’d never ever get a minivan so I feel like that’s really saying something!

  93. Congratulations and prayers to you and the family on your move back to the mainland! You are such loving, adventurous parents your family will flourish anywhere you settle down, and being close to family is good while you have little ones. I’m sure your wanderings will continue, and we all look forward to hearing about your new life in Arizona! Much love!! xoxoxo

  94. Good luck with all your changes Amber! Family should always come first! I am from New England and so is the rest of my family, so I will probably live there forever, haha. Hope you document the process on Youtube because I’ve been watching you there 🙂

    Simply Lovebirds

  95. So fun to see your pictures of Hawai’i. It’s brings me back to my three years of living there when my husband and I were first married. All of your feelings were our feelings. Man, do we want to stay, but everything is pulling us back to the mainland. I sure miss it a lot. Arizona will be lucky to have you, though. Aloha Oe.

  96. So sad you are moving from Hawaii because I LOVED you posts about life there, but excited for your family and your business to grow in Arizona!

  97. So exciting! My boyfriend and I love to move around and travel, been to 49 states so far (actually only missing Hawaii!) I love to watch your journey, and think your flexible attitude is something everyone should strive for! It all works out in the end!

  98. I just bout the 2018 Odyssey and LOVE it. It feels so sporty yet has so many great features . We got a white touring version and it’s great.

  99. Dear Amber, i have been following the many adventures you took your family on… i can’t say im not a little jealous 😉 ( living in Canada can be depressing with these long winters 🙄)
Maybe the circumstances for which you went back home were not the best but ultimately home is where the heart is!
I can’t wait to see all the fun stuff you will do with your new home and office !

  100. Amber,

Family is EVERYTHING. Congratulations on this next chapter in your life. I have been following your blog for awhile, and love your style. My husband and I are at a similar life-point as that of you and yours, so its fun seeing the kinds of adventures and shenanigans that you and your kids take part in. (I’m also a tall blonde with a cute hubby and two adorable kids ;)).

May the Lord bless you on this next adventure. I hear Arizona is a fun, and if you or your family ever want to check the Pacific Northwest out-we’d love to show you around.

  101. Hey from one mother of a child with special needs is thought I’d give you the heads up (disregard if you’ve already received this information). Find out the school district you live or call early intervention to find out how your son can qualify for the preschool that will offer speech therapy & etc. Here in UT my son received 3 years of free preschool & bus transportation because he qualified with a speech delay & a few other ones too.

It also helps to get them in the system that way if he needs further speech therapy in elementary school he will already have an IEP and etc. Good Luck speech therapy continues to do amazing things for my son & now my daughter who also has a delay❤️

  102. Thanks for the update! You make everywhere you live look dreamy, so I’m sure AZ will be great too (even though Hawaii diiiid look extra amazing)! Good luck with your house building. <3

    XX -KK

  103. I am *so* sad you guys left hawaii…i was enjoying living vicariously through you 😉 Glad you are close to family now! That is so important!!

  104. Amber, I am so happy for you and your family!! Watching your journey unfold is super inspiring and refreshing. Seeing you and David live your life to the fullest with your babes and you business makes me so happy! Incredibly excited for your new home to be built – keep it up, girl! xx

  105. Hey Amber!!! I could so relate to you wanting to stay in Hawaii “a few years” I felt the same after our trip, this place is just magical and seriously does something to your soul…LOVE IT! Enjoy this new chapter of your journey in AZ, there’s nothing like Family 🙂 But Hawaii…will always be Hawaii!!! Lots of love from Canada!! xx

  106. I moved from San Diego to Alabama with my husband and two kids to be closer to family about 8 months ago and I still cry, almost daily, about how much I miss it. So, I feel like I know what you are going through. It is nice to be near family though and to watch our kids grow up around cousins and form bonds with them. But dang….I miss the west coast so much.

  107. I’m so glad you’re settling in! I’m sure having family makes it so much easier. I’ll miss the beautiful pictures in Hawaii but I know you’ll produce amazing content regardless of where you are.
Can’t wait to the house when it’s done!

  108. I love these life updates! We just got back from Oahu on our honeymoon and we literally could have moved their in a heartbeat but a new move means new fun adventures! Sending lots of love! xx, Christine

  109. I’ve never commented before but wanted to say that your spirit is infectious – so much joy comes out in your words and pictures. It’s a gift and thank-you for having the courage to share it with others! My youngest daughter is a lot like you. She graduates from High School this Saturday and is headed to BYU Hawaii in the fall – her dream school – her brother graduated from there two years ago and she fell in love with the Aloha Spirit on the North Shore! We are so proud of her and how hard she worked to get accepted to BYU-Hawaii. The North Shore is a wonderful place to be and I am sure they will miss you guys :-).. happy for you guys to be near family a cherished blessing. Always remember you are Divine by Design!

P.S. I’m not sure if I can pull it financially but I thought I’d ask if you had any recommendations for any North Shore florist that ships Leis or Floral head pieces? I thought it would be cool to surprise my daughter for graduation:-)..

  110. New cars are so exciting! Something to consider with an Odyssey: my mom has had her second one for about ten years now, and she is starting to look for a new car, and one thing that she keeps mentioning is that with both of her Odysseys, there was SO much maintenance, and she’s finally at a point where she doesn’t want to pay for it anymore. That being said, it’s gotten her through four kids and she bought it a second time because she loved it more than she hated the maintenance. So, overall it is a great car, but if you are planning on keeping it for a long time, plan for a tooooooooon of upkeep…

  111. How exciting!! I’ve enjoyed your adventures from day one – in every city – and this one will be no different! 🙂

  112. Oh Amber I seriously love you guys! Following your journey in Hawaii prompted me to follow a lot of other Hawaii moms, and their parenting styles really inspired me! Thank you for sharing your experiences, I am excited to continue to follow your journey in Arizona too! All the best 😘😘

  113. I’ve loved following your adventures in Hawaii( & NYC) and I’m sure you will miss it. Best of luck in all your new ventures and the home build! Life is such a beautiful journey and it’s refreshing to see people share it with others. Blessings to you and your family!

  114. So happy for you Amber and your adorable family. You guys deserve all good happening to you and coming to you. Excited to follow along on your new adventure in Arizona.

  115. Sounds like you are really enjoying Arizona life! Best of luck on the home build.
Honda Odyssey is always a good reliable choice! We have had ours for 17 years and it still runs beautifully.

  116. I am pregnant with my first baby, a little girl (ah!), and LOVE reading your posts. My boyfriend and I are both very adventurous (we’re doing things a little backwards, baby first! Lol) and it’s so neat to see someone that encorporates their kids into their adventurous lifestyle. Far too many people become home bodies when they have kids and that irritates me!
Anyway, you are so beautiful inside and out and I am SO lucky to have stumbled upon your blog.
Best wishes in AZ for you and your crazy amazing family!

  117. Your adventure to Hawaii really inspired me, I’m hoping I get the courage one day to make the move!

  118. I love how open you are with us (it makes us feel more like friends and less like readers)! I cried thinking about how sad that would be to leave Hawaii but I’m so excited for what’s next for you guys!!

  119. I would agree that your nomad life stresses people out, but gosh I just love seeing your fam making it look so effortless and easy, but most importantly, fun! It definitely inspires me to be more carefree and not to worry about stuff all the time! #worrywart lol. I hope everything is well with your family and I’m so glad you get to be close to them and spend more time with them. My mom would kill me if I had kids and didn’t live in the same city as them haha. Best of luck with your home building, I can’t wait to see the process. Xoxo-JS

  120. The worst part about moving is the amount of stuff that gets broken or scrapped up by movers -_- I hope your family member is doing okay! Sending lots of love and prayers your way.

    Keri Elaine

  121. Aw I was half hoping you guys would stay in Hawaii longer! We visit once a year in the winter time and it’s my dream to just stay! Your blog makes me wish that 1000x more! I love seeing your posts from there, and how happy you guys look in the water with your tan skin! But I suppose Arizona is warm and sunny and it will be so nice to be close to family!!! Best wishes to all the big changes going on, I look forward to seeing your adventures!♡♡♡

  122. This was such an amazing read! I always love hearing about your family’s adventures. I hope
You plan on doing more in person meet ups in the Gilbert area- I hope to maybe even see you at Costa Vida or Soda shop😏😘

  123. We have been in the same boat as you. We live in SoCal now (for the past 6 months) and decided to go back to Minnesota for a few months to be with family. We are surely moving back to SoCal, but it’s so nice to be near family right now and just reset a little. I love the nomad life too!

  124. So exciting! Even though all the Hawaii posts were so fun, I can’t wait to follow along with your family on your Arizona adventures! You should get a pink mini van, haha! Also, I saw on your Instagram story that you are hiring/want resumes sent to an email address but I forgot to write down the email! Do you mind saying the email again if you’re still hiring?? Thanks so much 🙂

    xx, Hannah

  125. This is an awesome update – Happy to see you’re back to the mainland. I’ve loved your Hawaii adventure but I love seeing you back here in NYC, Alabama, Utah and now Arizona – it just feels so much more relatable and inspiring.

“Building our team” ?!?!?!? is this serendipity? We are moving out of NYC and considering a move to Arizona. My husband is a film-maker and I plan community events. Girl, will our paths cross? I hope so. I’d come and work with you any day of the week.

  126. The decision to move from Hawaii must’ve been a tough one, but I am sure you made the right decision in the end. Nothing beats being close to family!

Can’t wait to see more of your new life and new content in AZ, and don’t worry, you’re never boring to us! 🙂

  127. This is the time to be nomadic for sure. We went through the same thing regarding where to live and all that. It’s frustrating but always a blessing to have options!

  128. Aweeee. I loved this post from you, Amber! So genuine and sweet. I wish you and your family the best in Arizona, and I can’t wait to see your future posts! XOXO

  129. I don’t typically comment but I feel a need to tell you how amazing of a mom you are. You are like my mommy role model! You are so kind and patient and loving with your children, You give them the world(literally)! You are so selfless with you children, you spend hours upon hours planning fun activities for them and taking care of them are giving them the most amazing memories. Everyone experiences trials but not everyone can handle their children’s trials in such a rock star way like you do. You give your children a one in a million experience. They get to travel the world while spending everyday with both parents and developing such a wonderful bond with you both. I don’t know one person who(if they got to choose their childhood) would choose a stay at home childhood VS the one you are giving your children. They are insanely lucky to have you. I would’ve done anything to have the childhood that your kids get. I hope you always can remember how many women look up to you and how there will always be some people with twisted views and mean words because they are insecure themselves. You are absolutely wonderful and inspiration to us all. Thank you for inspiring moms everywhere! I will always strive to be as kind, patient, loving, and just plain sunshine-y as you.

  130. Wow- so much has happened! How exciting! I am looking forward to seeing what your content will be like, including your new home! Hawaii is one of those unique places that draw you in and make you never want to leave.. truly a paradise.. but being around family is so worth it, especially with little ones! xx

  131. What a nice story, you have to do what is right for yourself! Follow your heart and it looks like that is what you did to end you back up to your family.

  132. Congratulations! It takes courage to make such a big decision like that. Good luck on your home build!! xxx

  133. Although leaving Hawaii sounds so sad and I would have a difficult time as well, I’m glad you guys found where your path was leading you through Him. It sounds like you had a lot of difficult decisions that would strain a relationship, but I know you guys are strong! Your relationship within your family are so inspiring to see grow through these posts and I’m happy for you guys to have found your direction! Hopefully things will continue to go well in AZ with family and your business! We all love watching how you guys grow 💜 I can’t wait to see the house building posts!!! Good luck 👍🏼

  134. Yay! I am so glad you guys are in Arizona now! I moved to AZ two years ago for college and absolutely LOVE it. I know you have a bunch of family there, but if you ever need a babysitter/nanny, let me know! I have tons of experience and would love to work with your little babes.

These photos are beautiful!! I hope you and your little fam have so much fun in the Arizona heat this summer!! I hope to see you around.

  135. Aww such a beautiful post! I am so excited for your little family and your new exciting adventure! Can’t wait to see it all unfold and your posts are NEVER boring! 🙂 I always look forward to them. Wishing you all the best in the future! xoxox

  136. Good luck with your new start in Arizona! Family is so so important <3

  137. Can I just tell you, I am so happy you’re gonna be a minivan mom! Can’t wait to see which one you pick and what color!!!! I kinda want one too. Looking forward to seeing your home being built. I love your designer’s work!

  138. I am SOOO excited for you to start sharing the home building and designing process. Wishing you the best in your new place ❤❤

  139. It would have been so cool for you to stay a little bit more there, but I’m sure you did the right thing. 🙂
Good luck on this new adventure, I can’t wait to see your proper house once it’s done!! xx

  140. Best of luck to your beautiful family on your new adventure!!

  141. Oh wow!! I was so sure you guys would stay in Hawaii!! Seemed to suit you so well but then again, I don’t know much about Arizona. Can’t beat being close to family. I’m sure your content will always be top notch no matter where you are. Can’t wait to get updates on the home build. Good luck with everything – and if ever you guys want to visit Montreal, you can rent my house!! (@mtldesignmommy)

  142. I love Hawaii too! You should make it a point to go back every summer for a couple of weeks. It can still feel like a home away from home. 😉

  143. So many find memories you can treasure! Excited for the next chapter for you and your family! Xxx

  144. The move from Hawaii is so so hard I totally get it. My husband and I both went to BYUH right after we were married so we got to spend our first years (4 years) together on the island, and make so many memories there. It is so unlike anywhere else and I still feel heartbroken missing it sometimes!! Ultimately for us too it is nice being closer to family with our babies. Good luck with the home build in Arizona! <3

  145. Wow! I think it is so cool that you guys are so optimistic about moving and travelling everywhere! I’m very excited for when Atticus starts school! What are you most excited for about your new home? ❤

  146. This post is awesome!!! I love posts where you are so raw because I can relate! Can you share more about struggles? I love the positivity of your blog but sometimes readers can relate to struggles as well such as dealing with a sick family member or child in speech therapy. I think it brings a sense of comfort to know we aren’t alone!

  147. LOOOVED this post! I have been following your blog for years and love seeing your family, style and blog grow! When you moved to Hawaii I was so excited because I actually just moved back to the mainland from Hawaii a year ago and I love seeing pictures of it, as I miss it so much! My husband is in the Army and we were stationed on Oahu for 3 years (we moved there 2 weeks after we got married, so we always joke it was our 3 year honeymoon!). I could totally relate when you said that it is just a different way of life. It really makes you slow down and enjoy your family, and everything around you (stop and smell the roses if you will). I actually met you while I was living in Hawaii at Honolulu’s first fashion week and thought that you were so down to earth, sweet and authentic! So I was stoked to see that you were moving Hawaii. I love your “nomad” lifestyle as it is actually very similar to a military lifestyle, so it is so relatable to me and comforting honestly! We have moved to 3 different states in our 4 years of marriage and sometimes it can be crazy and of course scary when you move somewhere new but above all it is exciting, fun and I wouldn’t have it any other way! Anyways, I just wanted to let you know that I appreciate you and your blog and am excited for you and your family and your new adventure in Arizona!

  148. Hi Amber! I hope that the family news that brought you to Arizona works out, and I am sure that having you and your sweet family close by will make a world of difference. I am very excited to see the great content that you bring to the the website while living in Arizona. I love all of your travel posts, they are amazing! But the many adventures of regular life are super exciting too. Good luck with everything in Arizona! 🙂 And thank you for sharing your positive energy and beautiful family.

  149. What a change in a short time! Good Luke for your new life!
