10 Books to Teach Kids About Nature

We LOVE books in our home. One of my favorite things to do is hunt down new children’s books for my daughter and I to enjoy together. Now that spring has sprung and summer is around the corner, I have been collecting nature books that teach her all about the world around her. Teaching kids about nature has many developmental benefits and increases their concern for the environment. It has always been very important to me to help my daughter establish a connection to nature and I’m so happy to see how eager she to learn about the beautiful world around her. Finding interesting books about nature is a great way to achieve this and these books have also taught me so much along the way as well. These books are enjoyable for both adults and kids! Here are our favorite books nature books from anatomy to fairytales, that help her learn about and connect to nature.
Nature Anatomy : The Curious Parts & Pieces of the Natural World

This is our favorite. This book is full of gorgeous artistic illustrations and encourages curiosity about nature. It has fun facts about the environment and teaches in an exciting way. I bring it out on our outdoor adventures and we use it to identify various aspects of nature that my daughter finds intriguing.
How to Be a Wildflower: A Field Guide

This book has the most beautiful illustrations I have seen in a book. When I first looked through it, I found myself totally lost in the magic and wonder of it all. It inspires it’s readers to go outside and see the world in a new way and establish a deep connection to nature. It is completely enchanting.
Botanicum : Welcome to the Museum
By Kathy Willis
A beautiful and elegant guide to plant life. This book teaches you everything about botany and has very interesting illustrations including really cool cross-sections of plants to show children a deeper look into plant life.
Outside Your Window: A First Book of Nature

Poetry, vibrant illustrations, and interesting facts make this book an amazing read for kids. It walks you through all of the seasons and each page is straight out of a fairy-tale. It is long so you can keep reading it in different sittings. The simple and educational poetry is an effective way of communicating with children.

5 Summer Activities for Kids
