Family Time in the Desert

We did a fun hike over the weekend and I thought I would share some of the pictures from our phones! We went to hike Wind Caves in Arizona – it is 1.5 miles up and 1.5 miles down. We had the kids in hiking carriers but my back was instantly in sooo much pain with mine off so we took mine off and had Atticus walk with me! Which ended up being way better anyways because he LOVED hiking and checking out all the snake holes, the cacti (and making sure NO ONE got too close ha), and running from snakes – it was so so fun! We only probably got a half mile up before we had to turn back and head down before it got dark but it was so fun to just go at the kid’s pace and stop at every little thing that interested them. And jump off almost every single rock and pet every dog that passed us haha. Chauncey made quite a few friends too.

I am sure other moms can relate but sometimes when you are playing with the kids or out doing an activity with them and suddenly you feel this really big rush of just pure happiness and its like you’re on a high of just feeling so in love with your kids and having so much fun with them?! I totally got that on this hike! I felt like we were best friends and I love that feeling of being their best friend!!!! Sometimes toddlers can be crazy so these moments even everything out.

Hope you guys had an amazing weekend and ready for Monday! We have a couple team meetings today to talk about all the projects we are working on — I am super excited! And then Bachelor tonight— who is watching? Do you like Arie? I can’t tell how I feel about him. I was indifferent about him on Emily’s season and was super confused when they brought him back so I am hoping he kinda pleasantly surprises us all.

Don’t forget our first podcast discussion is this Tuesday! We didn’t realize that there were different episode numbers on iTunes, so if you are confused on what podcast to listen to, the podcast we will be discussing tomorrow is Oprah’s SuperSoul podcast with Mariel Hemingway & Bobby Williams.  HAVE A GOOD DAY!

  1. So in love with your Patagonia! Might have to go get one myself 🙂 As always, the pictures are adorable and it looks like you guys had an awesome time!!

  2. Do you have a recipe somewhere that I could look up to see how you make Chauncey’s homemade dog food? ~Thank you!
Btw, I love going on hikes and I’m sure AZ is just a dream to hike in in the “winter” months.

  3. Welcome back to Arizona Amber, David, Atticus & Rosie. This is a great hike. You should also take the kids to Marcus Landslide trail Marcus Landslide Trail is an interpretive trail with signs along the way describing the geological forces that led to a landslide about 500000 years ago.
some the rocks are shaped like mushrooms. Also the Cave Creek Regional Park is home to the largest Saguaro cactus in the world. Also Black Mountain has an amazing unique rock table where the rocks are all heart shaped. Hundreds of them. I know lots of neat hidden spots in the valley & the state. You can email me if you would like to know more. The less traffic on these beautiful spots the longer they will stay beautiful. Gold panning is another great activity and great weekend fun for Atticus & Rosie.

  9. Ugh I don’t know why they chose Arie! I honestly think Dean would have been such a better bachelor haha. But then again, I am still watching so I guess I can’t complain that much lol.

  10. Your husband looks like Travis Fimmel from the show Vikings (Ragnar!) 😀

  11. I’m not sure how I feel about Arie. He seems okay. I’m just happy to have some tv to watch on Mondays lol. I’ll probably always watch the series regardless who “the Bachelor” is.

  12. Your kiddos are ADORABLE!!! Atticus looks totally in his element! I can relate to the total bliss moments that comes with parenthood, makes it all worth it!! Love the rose color sweater! Looked like you all had a great weekend. As always thanks for sharing!!
