So its its 4 days into the New Year and still going strong with my 2 NYE resolutions haha – this hasn’t always been the case so I will consider 4 days a victory. Just kidding, sort of but most years I would make these long lists of like 8 or 10 resolutions and by the first week I would forget about one of them so this year I only chose a couple that I want to be my theme for the year 🙂
David’s whole family came into the city for New Year’s and we really wanted the whole family to be all together (which is impossible to get a hotel that holds 27 people) so we got a HomeAway rental on the East Side of town! It worked out so good. It was really the only way we could get all of them under the same roof! We learned from our Europe trip that sometimes with big groups it’s so much easier to do whole apartment or home rentals instead of multiple hotel rooms. It was an entire three story walk up and it had a really cool deck with a view of the Empire State Building. Its nice to have the whole family stay together because its hard to coordinate that many activites and schedules on a vacation but at least during down time and during the nights/mornings all the cousins could be playing together and there could be a mutual meeting spot. It had a big projector in the main room which was also fun 🙂
We threw a little NYE party and strung lights from Party City on the deck and got 60 balloons and of course lots of desserts from Sweet Tooth Fairy. We have a Party City kind of over by where we live so sometimes I see people walking down the street with like 20 balloons or so and it looks very tricky.. (how do you get in a cab or a subway!!!!) So I was freaking out about having to do that with 60 balloons and trying to squeeze them all into ubers or something. Luckily they deliver 😉
We had a little fake ball drop for the kiddies at like 8pm and since we did the countdown and all it played tricks with my mind and I felt like it should be midnight ha I was soooo tired I didn’t think I would make it. We went home to our apartment and got in PJ’s and woke Atticus up to watch fireworks from our apartment window. We are really high up in our new apartment so we have a really awesome view of the city and Atticus was totally freaking out over the fireworks! He kept yelling “WOAH!!!! WOW!!” and banging on the window with huge gasps. It was hands down the best New Year’s yet especially since I got THREE NYE kisses!!!
