Top of the Rock will always be one of my favorite views of New York City!! I love to go during all seasons and I especially love summer when Central Park is all lush and green and gorgeous. And my other favorite part is just sitting in the window sills and looking at the view.. except now it’s more like – sit … stand and chase atticus … sit for 3 more seconds .. go chase atticus .. window sill taken .. wait for another .. and so on. But still amazing 🙂

I wore my new Melissa Jean + Jason Wu flats from the Melissa Starwalker Collection because we were going to be doing a lot of walking and they are so comfy! I love the detailing on the flats and that they are different than the rest of my classic black flats. (flats are basically my best friend – I am not the best at wearing heels although I wish I was) The flats were the only smart thing about my outfit – not sure what I was thinking going out of the apartment in a long sleeve dress in the summer.. I was literally dying and face palming myself all day.

  1. Hi there! I know this is kind of off topic but I was wondering which blog platform are you using for this website? I’m getting sick and tired of WordPress because I’ve had problems with hackers and I’m looking at options for another platform. I would be awesome if you could point me in the direction of a good platform.|

  2. I would love to see a tutorial on how you did your hair. Did you do the twisty on top of the braids? So cute!

  3. I love love love this dress!! I have it pinned on one of my Pinterest boards. It is absolutely gorgeous! You look stunning! I really want a dress like this for when I am pregnant! And for when I’m not pregnant too…

  4. The pictures you take are breathtaking!! You have a stunning family! I love reading your blog!

  5. Wow, you are the first person to reply to me, so thank you for that! I would LOVE to go to your salon, but I live in california. Do you know what kind of cut you get; is it layered all the way down, U-cut with face framing layers, etc.? I am trying to get mine like yours and I want to tell my hair dresser what kind of cut it is. Thank you so much for taking your time to reply to me, you must be crazy busy chasing around Atticus????

  6. Hi Amber,
I just wanted to tell you how much I love your blog. You have really inspired to me to do something similar. I have always wanted to share my talents with hair and make up, but not so much as a full-time, face-to-face thing. Something more along the lines of what you are doing. You hold yourself so well, not only as a woman, but also as a member of the church. I’m a Mormon also, who married my handsome husband in the New Zealand, Hamilton Temple last year. (My wedding board on Pinterest were full of inspiration pictures from your wedding btw haha) We just welcomed our beautiful son, Walker 7 weeks ago. Since I will be on maternity leave for a year (or more), I thought now would be the perfect opportunity to start it up. To start something I will enjoy, and hopefully be someone to look up to also.
Do you have any advice on where to start, what to do? I’d love to hear back from you.
Your biggest fan from this side of the world 🙂 xox

    1. Hi Jaeger!! Thank you so much for the sweet comment! I loved reading it 🙂 It made my day!! I am so glad you have been inspired to create something you love! How exciting! And wow! You got married in New Zealand?! I bet is was gorgeous!! And congrats on your little man, I love the name Walker! Good luck with everything! Email me and I will send you some tips I have on getting started (thebarefootblonde@gmail.com) xoxo

    1. You’re right, it does!! And thanks so much!! I am glad you liked the post 🙂

  7. Beautiful photos, Amber! Your dress really sparkles in the sunlights 🙂 Make me think of the mermaid haha

    1. Thanks so much Francesca!! That is so nice of you!! And I love that compliment because I love mermaids haha! xo

  8. Hi! I was wondering if you know of any affordable photographers in New York City? My husband and I will be celebrating our one year anniversary in November and we’d like to do a session. Or have you ever considered doing photography, your pictures are amazing and you have a beautiful family!
    Thanks!

  9. Can you please please post a video on the half up braided swirl? I’m taking my engagement pictures soon and I think that hairstyle would be absolutely perfection 🙂 <3 also if you ever had the desire to – I would love to see an "up-do to down" hairstyle! I feel best with my hair down, but with my neckline and veil I think it could be pretty to have my hair up for the ceremony but take it down later for the reception! Love you always!

    Shelby

    1. Thanks for the suggestions!! I love them! I am hoping to film a tutorial soon 🙂 And omg yes that would look amazing!! Congrats on your engagement yay!! How exciting!! xo

  10. Your hair is so pretty! I had my hairstylist do the highlights and lowlights that you do and it so totally didn’t turn out like yours. 🙁 I had gone pink before so i lost all my natural lowlights when I did that. Not sure if that’s why. But the 7n pulled like an orangy color. So sad, because I wanted it to look like yours, and it’s not even close. Hahah.

    1. Thanks so much Whitney!! And oh no! I am so sorry! Could you try a toner? It will help with the orangy color!! Hair color is hard because the same formula can look different on everyone!! 🙁

      1. We did do a toner and it looks a better, just still not quite there yet! I totally ruined my hair by going all over pink. My hair used to look almost exactly like yours, that’s why I used your formula thinking I could get it back to that. But I guess I’m going to have to go a little darker on my lowlights! Hair is so weird in how formulas work differently on different people. Haha. Thanks for the advice! 🙂

    1. Thanks Angela!! You are so sweet!! I love it but it was just the wrong day to wear it haha! 🙁

    1. Thank you!! And oh my goodness you definitely need to go 🙂 It is my favorite view of the city!! xo
