  1. Love the video. Thanks! What level is your natural hair color? You look like you’re pretty light naturally. Girls with hair thats naturally darker than yours may be disappointed when they head to the salon and can’t achieve this color because their hair is several levels darker. Are you naturally a level 7??

  2. Hi Amber! Looove your blog! I’m like two years late in asking this, but I wondered what your natural hair colour is? I’ve been contemplating going blonde and love your colour! But I’m a brunette and every time I feel confident in my decision to just go for it… well, cue horrendous flashbacks to when I went blonde in high school and the ends of my hair literally turned to mush! Eek!

  3. Hi Amber, love ur video.
How much do u think this cost first time?
    What does break base mean??

  4. Hi Amber, love ur video.
How much do u think this cost first time?

    1. Thanks so much Laura!! And I would say about every 7-8 weeks 🙂

  5. Your colour is beautiful but as a hairstylist of 16 years, I know what product to use on a client’s hair to achieve the best result possible. It’s my job to decide what colour level to use and what volume to use.

    1. I completely agree with Amber and disagree with you. I just came back from my hairdresser, and I’m really disappointed with the color. I asked her to color it EXACTLY the way she had done it on my previous appointment: the highlights, the lowlights, etc. because I loved what she did. She said she had the “recipe” she used on file. And now, here I sit with the ugly ash blonde haircolor she gave me the very first time I had her color my hair a few months ago. I wish now that I had her write down what she did the time she colored my hair just right so that I could have told her exactly what I wanted. I trusted my professional hairdresser and now I’m exremely unhappy with my expensive hair color. I could have done just as well with hair dry from a box.

      1. I agree. I’m stuck with ugly mouse green tinged brown hair that was supposed to be a golden blond. this is my 4th correction and no one is getting it right. What is it about NO ASH that hairdressers don’t understand. I’ve had three hairdressers say trust me, i know what you need to get your hair a medium golden blond and so far Ive had blue-grey, grey-green, orange -white and now mousy green brown and almost 900.00 out too. Trust your instincts.

    2. Erin, I am going to have to agree with Annette and Amber on this one. Going to a hair stylist is pretty risky for many women because they want to end up satisfied with their color and highlights and so they are going to have make some, if not all, of the decisions. I mean, only the client can really say what color level or volume fits their needs. How would you advise other stylists to better incorporate their client’s wishes to get satisfying (to the customer) results? http://www.spaforhairnj.com/services

  6. I love your hairtutorials and of course your blog in generel ! I am from Germany and love the english language 🙂 I have a question to your hair : How do you get this awesome long hair ? It looks so beautiful 🙂 I am looking forward an answer of you thanks :*

  7. Thank you so much for posting this! I have always enjoyed your hair tutorials, but wondered how to achieve your “perfect blonde”. Luckily for me, my boyfriend is a hair dresser and knew just what you meant when I made him watch your video! Thank you again for always posting such informational tutorials, gorgeous outfits, and sweet pictures of your family. You’re the best <3

  8. Has it happended or is it usual that women and girls cry or shed tears at hairdresser’s when they chopp off their long hair in a ponytail or braid for a short pixie cut?

  9. I too would like to know what brand and color name of the polish you are wearing-it is gorgeous! I love your hair!

  10. Hi! What nail polish color are you wearing? It’s gorgeous!! Thanks in advance 😉

  11. I’m so happy to see this post! I have always envied your hair color and tried to get mine similar!

  12. Great post! Do you feel that breaking your base makes you need highlights more often? How often do you color? Thanks so much !!

  13. Hello! So I’m a hairstylist and one of my clients sent me a link to your blog! She loves and wants your color! I just have a few questions for you to help me to achieve this color on her. What is your natural level? Also, how long have you been coloring your hair blonde?
    Thank you so much!

  14. hello six talented, I love your hair and especially your tresses, but I can not be her only mistake for sure something .. how can I do?

  15. Amber where do you have your hair colored now that you’re in NYC? the color is perfect!

  16. How hard is it for someone with darker blonde hair to go this light!? I want your color!

  17. Love this video! Just wondering if you’ve ever had brown hair? I have light brown hair and brown eyes and am thinking of going blonde, but just can’t decide if it’ll look good or not.

  18. Love this! Just wondering, what brow product do you use? It’s so hard to find a lighter ashy color that goes with my hair color (which is similar to yours). Everything I’ve found that’s light enough tends to be a bit orangey. Eww!

    1. Try Anastasia Beverly Hills’ brow pencils. She has great variety of really natural shades. Her “taupe” shade is great for blonds without being orangey.

  19. Amber u r such an inspiration! You are the one who taught me how to braid! Your youtube channel rocks! 🙂 It makes me feel awesome and proud every time my hairdresser tells me that he looovved my braid :)) besides i love your modesty, keep what u r doing 🙂 xoxo from Turkey! (Cant believe u flew all the way to Greece and did not give a try to Turkey, u definitely should come some time) With Love, Bengu

  20. Hi Amber!

Love your post and your blog. You have a great style and you’re sooo pretty :)! I just moved to NYC and I don’t know any hair salons. Would you mind sharing the one you go to?

    Thanks dear!

  21. Dear Amber, thank you for this video ! I’m following you on IG for a while and today I tried to check your blog. I’m not a big fan of blogs but this one is really awesome. I’m just in love with your hair and I hope I will have the same lenght one day :-)) You and your family are amazing. Just one small question – isn’t your hair too damaged or dry because of the blonde hair? I’ve got blonde hair for more than 8 years and it still ruines my hair and never grows :-((( Thanks !!! Greetings from Europe !

  22. Oh my gosh. Your hair color is my goal!! ❤️ Are you a cosmetologist?

  23. I LOVE this post!! I wrote down the formulas that you use so that I can bring my notes to my stylist. What I love best about your blog is that you take your baby with you EVERYWHERE!! That’s so nice to see. You are a great mommy!!! 🙂

  24. Hi Amber,
Thanks for sharing your hair color secrets! I have total hair envy! I can’t wait to try out the Pantene products, too! What lip color are you wearing in this post? Its the perfect shade of coral/orange!
PS Totally obsessed with your blog! I follow it all the way from the tiny island of Guam 🙂

  25. Love this post Amber because we hate when we ask for super blond highlights and then leave salon disappointed if our roots still look dark.

Your advice is perfect and one day you’ll have to try our luxe 100% satin pillow cases called Savvy Sleepers. They help prevent split ends and breakage especially for blond lovers. They’re also really soothing for hair and skin because we wear hair extensions often as well.

  26. Thank you so much for sharing!!
How long do you go in between hair appointments? And- is this what you tell your hairdresser every time? (Do you”break the base with 8N every time or do you just get touch ups, etc. ?)
    Thank you,
    Julie N.

  34. Hi Amber, I really love your blog and all of your pictures! They are so beautiful and show the love you and your family share. Me and my boyfriend also love to travel and I’m very curious to know how you and your husband pay for all the amazing vacations you are doing?

    1. Hi Christina!! Thanks so much!! That is so nice of you to say!! One of the ways we save money on vacations is using vacation rentals (homes, apartments) (check out my latest post for more info!) You can also save a lot of money on airfare if you travel during the “off season”. You can email me if you want more tips!! Thanks!! 🙂

  35. Thank You Thank You Thank You!!!! While i love all of your tutorials, i have had the “colour” question finally answered. Many thanks Amber.
