The first set of photos are from a plane ride we took over the Great Barrier Reef, Whitehaven Beach, Hamilton Island, and some surrounding islands. It was truly one of the most magical experiences ever! The views were just insane. We really wanted to do Great Barrier Reef before it sadly gets too bleached! Even though it wasn’t what it used to be, this was our first time seeing it, and it was INCREDIBLE! So beautiful.

David and I got certified to do scuba diving not too long ago and we finally got to do our first official dive! Leading up to it I had sooo much anxiety for weeks, secretly hoping they would cancel it because I was so anxious about doing it. On the ferry ride over I kept thinking, I am just going to tell them I am going to snorkel and not scuba dive. And I was fighting back tears up until we did the backwards dive out of the boat and started the descent. They kept telling us the currents were strong and could pull us into the coral which was freeeaking me out. Once we got in the dive master held onto my gear and went down slowly with me which helped me relax a bit. Then once we were down there it was sooo relaxing and calm – not scary at all. And I didn’t feel the current at all. I loved it so much!! We swam with sharks and saw turtles, fish, giant clams and it was all so great.

What is on your guys bucket list?!?! I think next on mine and David’s is doing a triathlon. I have avoided doing one because the biking portion stresses me out – what if someone bumps into you?!? I have seen some crazy falls, eek. But we wanna do one in Hawaii! So I gotta brave up for that next.

On another note, tomorrowย we will be posting our Christmas Card photos!!! I love how they turned out so check back ๐Ÿ™‚

PS I was going to post the From The Heart Series today and typed it all out but then chickened out!! Maybe next week! Love you guys!

  1. can you please share which diving tour group you booked with? I’m headed there in 3 weeks and would love to hear about your experience with that company.

  2. Hi Amber! Your family such an inspiration for us! We also have two small kids and love to travel a lot.
I have a question. Where do you leave your kids when you go on trips like scuba diving while in Australia? I just can’t figure out where to leave them in order to do things which we can’t do with them. Thanks in advance!

  3. I just saw your video on YouTube and I am really proud of you! You are very brave! โ™ฅ

  4. Wow! That looks soooo pretty! I think I’ll have to put that on my bucket list! And girlie I have been waiting since you first mentioned it for you to do the from the heart series on anxiety! I’m curious on how you deal with it since you seem so happy on the blog and vlogs. I get very anxious with a lot of things and would love to know what you do to overcome your fears :). Don’t worry nobody’s judging you! We all have our flaws. Xoxo

  6. I really like those pictures and I need to say that I was on a whitsundays trip the same time like you! We only went snorkeling but it was so amazing!!

      1. I really loved it, it was soo great! I think the most beautiful place on earth I have ever seen is the white haven Beach from the lookout and the reef under water! We were on a sailing boat for two days and slept one night just in front of Hamilton Island!:)

  7. I’ve been to white heaven beach 4years ago and it’s the most beautiful place in Australia! Your family and your life is very inspired to me! Also your family give me positive energy and you give a strong women power as a person and as a mother. Love your family and I’ll come to your blog again. Happy new year!! >.<

  11. So amazing!! We visit Hawaii once a year and I’m still so terrified to scuba! I love snorkeling but I get so much anxiety when I think about going. But it totally seems worth it. Good job conquering your fears! Maybe I will next year?

  13. Super gorgeous! I’m so jealous you got to dive there before the reef is completely gone ?. But I would so be freaking out about scuba diving too! You’re so brave! I just have a quick question, when you and David go on excursions who babysits your cute kiddos? Just wondering! You may have answered this many times so if so my bad. Love you guys and wish you the happiest Christmas in Hawaii! I went to Kona in 2014 and it was so beautiful! But I’ll be spending xmas here in Denver. Here’s to a white Christmas for me haha! Merry Christmas!

  14. That is so neat you can do these kinds of trips with kids. Could you make a post about how you find sitters on your trips? I would love to travel more with our kids and learn more about the options of safe sitters. Awesome pictures!!

  17. Awww- I was so hoping you would do your From the Heart post already! I’ve been checking for it nonstop. I think it’s an amazing thing and I especially need some tips on the topic of anxiety- and I’d love to get those tips from a role model like you. Please please don’t chicken out!! I wanna hear what you have to say so bad!
Don’t worry about how you’ll come across, because your followers will admire you anyways and it just makes you all the more real and relate-able…and best of all, you may actually help some people!!
Anyways LOVE the gorgeous pics Amber! And thanks for always ending with “love you guys”, it’s so sweet and makes me feel touched ๐Ÿ˜‰

  18. Scuba diving gives me so much anxiety too!! It’s so weird because I’ve been a lifelong swimmer so I’m very comfortable in water but I think the idea of not being close to open air makes me anxious….your post gives me hope that maybe one day I can do a dive too!

  19. Your pictures are gorgeous! My family and I went snorkeling in the Great Barrier reef when I was a kid and they were the most colorful reefs I had ever seen! I hope you guys have the best Christmas <3

  22. Love this post!! You and David are so cute!! I hope I find love like yours!!

  23. Looks like so much fun!!!!! I can’t wait until I go to Sydney in 2017!!! How far is the Great Barrier Reef from Sydney? Ps….I want another From the heart series so you should post it if you want:)))) Happy Holidays to you and your family!!!! xoxoxo

  24. Your pictures are amazing!! Scuba Diving the GBR is way high on my bucket list as well! Just wanted to leave you a quick note about Triathlons being a Triathlete myself. 1. They are so so fun and you will be so glad you did it! You’ll feel like superwoman when you finish. In my opinion it’s way better than just running because the 3 portions break it up and you always have the next one to look forward. 2. Don’t worry about the bike portion! I remember feeling a lot of anxiety about it as well and then I practically biked by myself the whole time haha They will start the swimming in categories which will break up the crowd and then people find their own pace during the swim and in the transition area. You’ll find there are just enough people to say high to as you pass them/they pass you but it won’t be crowded or scary at all! It’s definitely my favorite part. 3. Do prep yourself for getting kicked in the face/swam over in the swim, though, haha ? I usually just wait back a minute or so to let everyone go ahead and to avoid the craziness and it helps SO SO much. Good luck with training!! โค๏ธ

  25. Isn’t The Great Barrier Reef just the most beautiful place! I dived there last year and absolutely fell in love with it (and Australia as a whole). I think the learning to dive part was way scarier than the open water diving and can definitely relate to your nerves but agree that it is so worth it!! Can’t wait to see more of your travels & Hawaii life. Merry Christmas!

  26. Sorry for posting on here, but I’ve been trying to get in touch with Barefoot Blonde Hair. I made an order ten+ days ago but still no confirmation email or delivery, despite being charged already. Please could you get in touch with info? I’m really exited about the extensions and hope they arrive soon ๐Ÿ™‚ Thanks Amber. Gorgeous posts as always x

    1. Hi Lidia!!! I’m so happy you reached out on here! When we try to email back it gives us an automated response – I can send you a screenshot of what it says but anyways for some reason it won’t let us respond. Do you have another email address we can send your confirmation to? Your order is on its way!! ๐Ÿ™‚ xoxoxo

  27. Wow! These photos are amazing! Scuba diving freaks me out. Haha! My husband and I went snorkeling in St Lucia and I stayed on the surface while he dove down deep. I kept telling him to come back up because I was afraid he’d touch the fire coral or get puffed by a puffer fish. lol. My cousin has done the ironman triathlon several times. The highest he placed was 2nd and I think the lowest was 7th. I’m not athletic enough to attempt a triathlon. Ha!

  28. I totally understand feeling anxious about those things, cause i do the exact same thing! Even if its something I know I am going to love or regret doing I still get super anxious and almost not do it last minute. But what Ive learned its so important to say yes to things as I normally say no. Love you and your content and so happy you stepped out of your comfort zone to do something that turned out to be great <3 Ps. you and your family is so beautiful inside and out

  32. Such cool pics! I think I would be really nervous to scuba dive too! So… I would love it if you did a post on anxiety! I have been checking your blog constantly ever since you said you were going to do a post on it! I have struggled with it my entire life and it’s not fun. I have gotten better over the years, getting married and having 2 kids, and just getting older and more mature made me realize some things just don’t really matter. I definitely feel more confident than I used to- I used to care so much what people thought of me, but now i just try to do what makes me and my family happy! But… sometimes it still gets me and I hate it! I would love to hear what you have to say about it and maybe hear little tips and tricks to try to overcome it! Merry Christmas to you and your cute family!

  33. Amber! I can totally relate! Me and my friend just got scuba certified last weekend, and I was so nervous to do the open water portion of the class (my friend is like David- not scared of anything) I had one little scare during it, and had to come up and I couldn’t hold back the tears. After the class was over we went back down and practiced and it was so relaxing! I actually though this is what zen feels like lol. Can’t wait to practice more and check out the ocean!! Maybe we will see each other under water sometime ๐Ÿ˜‰

  34. When it’s slow at my work I love to check up on your blog. I love your posts! You guys are so happy and genuine people! Love watching your cute family grow ๐Ÿ™‚

  35. You always go on the funnest adventures!! Can’t wait to see your Christmas card photos

  36. Triathlons are fun! And if the swimming doesn’t worry you, then all is good! Hawaii would be an incredible place to do one.

  37. Amber, that is so inspiring you facing your fears! I have always wanted to scuba dive too, but definitely been like eh it’s too scary…after seeing this I think I should really consider it. Aw we love you, you don’t need to chicken out over your From the Heart Series! Have a merry Christmas!!

  38. Loved it!! But just one question where did the kids stay? It’s just because I love your tips but I never left my boy with a nanny, which means we can’t do some things… ???โค๏ธ
